Daniel Defense Buying Guide
Daniel Defense builds the MK18, the DDM4 V7, the DD PCC and the DD5. We carry Daniel Defense SBRs, the integrally suppressed DDM4 ISR, the MUTE 30Ti and NULL 9Ti suppressors, and the rifles and pistols the SBRs are based on. The guide below shows how the lineup fits together and where each model fits.
How to Choose a Daniel Defense
Pick the caliber first, then the barrel length, then decide whether you want an SBR with a stock, a pistol with a brace, or a 16 in. or longer rifle.
A few things to know
- Platforms: DDM4 is Daniel Defense's AR-15 family in 5.56 and 300 BLK: the V7 models, the PDW and the ISR. DD4 is the fully ambidextrous lower receiver Daniel Defense introduced in 2022 with its RIII series, which describes it as a fully ambidextrous version of the DDM4; the DD4 RIII S and MK18 RIII use it. The DD5 is its .308 (7.62x51) platform. The DD PCC is its 9mm blowback carbine.
- Rails: RIS II is DD's Picatinny quad rail, used on the MK18 and the GL/SSC. RIS III is the M-LOK rail modeled after it, with a detachable lower section and flush QD points, used on the MK18 RIII and DD4 RIII S. MFR is DD's one-piece rail with a full-length top rail, used on the V7 family, the PDW and the ISR.
- Barrels: every Daniel Defense barrel in this guide is cold hammer forged, and all but the PCC's stainless barrel are chrome lined. The 5.56 SBRs and the 16 in. V7 use DD's Government profile; the PDW, ISR, PCC, DD5 and V7 Pro use its heavier S2W profile.
- Names: in our lineup, the models ending in S (DDM4 V7 S, DD4 RIII S) are the SBRs, and RIII means the RIS III rail.
- Muzzle threads: the 5.56 and 9mm models are 1/2x28, and the 300 BLK and .308 models are 5/8x24. The V7 SLW's flash suppressor is pinned and welded, and the ISR's suppressor is built in.
- SBR or pistol: the SBRs have a stock and are NFA items. The MK18 Pistol, PDW Pistol and PCC Pistol ship with a brace and aren't NFA items.
Choosing by configuration
- The MK18 most people picture: the MK18 SBR, 10.3 in. on the RIS II quad rail. Want M-LOK and ambidextrous controls? The MK18 RIII.
- An 11.5 in. 5.56 SBR: the DDM4 V7 S on the MFR rail, or the DD4 RIII S with the ambidextrous lower and RIS III rail.
- A 12.5 in. 5.56 SBR: the GL/SSC SBR.
- A suppressed 300 BLK: the 7 in. DDM4 PDW SBR with the suppressor of your choice, or the DDM4 ISR with the suppressor built in.
- 9mm: the PCC SBR or PCC Pistol, or the Breacher's Custom Guns PCC SD with an integral suppressor.
- .308: the 12.5 in. DD5 SBR or the 16 in. DD5 V3.
- No NFA paperwork: the DDM4 V7, DDM4 V7 SLW, DDM4 V7 Pro and DD5 V3 rifles, or the MK18 Pistol, DDM4 PDW Pistol and PCC Pistol.
- A Daniel Defense suppressor: the MUTE 30Ti for bolt guns, or the NULL 9Ti for 9mm PCCs.

What Daniel Defense Is Known For
Daniel Defense is a family-owned company in Black Creek, Georgia. Marty Daniel started it in 2000 making accessories for his own rifles, and it now makes its own cold hammer forged barrels and upper and lower receivers in Black Creek.
- The RIS II rail: USSOCOM has used Daniel Defense's RIS II rail in the SOPMOD Block II program since 2006. It's the quad rail on the MK18 SBR, MK18 Pistol and GL/SSC SBR.
- The PEW Science test host: PEW Science builds its standard 10.3 in. suppressor test host on a factory Daniel Defense MK18 upper (SSS.6.51) and its 14.5 in. host on a factory DD M4A1 RIII upper (SSS.6.127). When you read a PEW Science result on the 10.3 in. MK18 host, it was shot through a Daniel Defense barrel.
- Barrels: every barrel in the lineup is cold hammer forged, and all but the PCC's stainless barrel are chrome lined.
- The V7: the DDM4 V7 is Daniel Defense's top-selling DDM4.
- 3D-printed suppressors: DD's Wave, now discontinued, was one of the first entirely 3D-printed suppressors from a major maker. The MUTE 30Ti and NULL 9Ti are the next generation: weldless 3D-printed titanium.
Reviewers have measured stock Daniel Defense triggers anywhere from about 5.5 lb to almost 8 lb, and a couple called them gritty. If trigger feel matters to you, plan on an upgrade, or start with the DDM4 V7 Pro, which ships with a Geissele.
Buying a Daniel Defense SBR or Suppressor
- Federal tax is $0: since January 1, 2026, the NFA tax on SBRs and suppressors is $0.
- Form 4 or 4473: at checkout you choose a Form 4 or, in some states, a 4473. We recommend the Form 4. ATF's FAQ says the NFA treats unregistered firearms as contraband, and registration keeps your SBR or suppressor compliant today and under future administrations. See 4473 vs. Form 4. If we can't ship to your state, we can send it to a local dealer you choose. Choose that option at checkout.
- The ISR: its suppressor is pinned and welded to bring the barrel to 16 in., so the ISR isn't an SBR. The suppressor is its only NFA item.
- The Breacher's PCC SD: it's two NFA items, an SBR and a suppressor.
- Rifles and pistols: the V7, V7 SLW, V7 Pro, DD5 V3, MK18 Pistol, PDW Pistol and PCC Pistol aren't NFA items. At checkout, choose home delivery through the same ship-to-home process we use for 4473 suppressors, following approved ATF Procedure 2020-1, pickup at one of our Capitol Armory locations (currently Texas, with more coming), or shipping to a dealer you choose. Options depend on your state.
- Already own the pistol? Our Form 1 filing service handles the paperwork to make it an SBR.
- New to NFA items? Start with how to buy a short-barreled rifle or how to buy a suppressor, and check current ATF wait times.
Daniel Defense MK18: SBR, RIII and Pistol
All three MK18s share the 10.3 in. cold hammer forged Government profile barrel, 1:7 twist, carbine gas and the DD Flash Suppressor on 1/2x28 threads. The differences are the rail, the lower and whether it has a stock or a brace.
| Rail | Lower | Stock or brace | Length | Weight | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MK18 SBR | RIS II quad (Picatinny) | Mil-spec | DD Buttstock | 26.75 to 29.875 in. | 5.88 lb |
| MK18 RIII | RIS III 9.5 (M-LOK) | Fully ambidextrous | DD Buttstock | 26.75 to 29.875 in. | 5.73 lb |
| MK18 Pistol | RIS II quad (Picatinny) | Mil-spec | SB Tactical SBA3 brace | 28.625 in. | 5.85 lb |
Daniel Defense MK18 SBR
The MK18 SBR is Daniel Defense's 10.3 in. 5.56 on the RIS II quad rail, the Picatinny rail Daniel Defense provides to USSOCOM.
Barrel: 10.3 in., 1:7, chrome lined | Gas: Carbine | Rail: RIS II MK18 | Length: 26.75 to 29.875 in. | Weight: 5.88 lb | Muzzle: DD Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28 | Colors: Black, Black with FDE rail, Mil Spec+
The 10.3 in. barrel is the length used on the MK18 upper for CQB work. The RIS II's Bolt-Up System free floats the barrel, and the rifle comes with three low-profile Santoprene rail ladders.
MK18 SBR or MK18 RIII? Pick the SBR if you want the quad rail and a mil-spec lower. Pick the MK18 RIII for M-LOK and ambidextrous controls; it's the same length and 0.15 lb lighter.
Test results and reviews
Athlon Outdoors, 2014: Shot the 10.3 in. MK18 SBR with a scope at 100 yd. Best 5-shot group was 1.09 in. with Hornady 62 gr Barrier, and the trigger measured 7.25 lb with gritty take-up. Read the review
Athlon Outdoors, 2015: Ran an MK18 suppressed with a SureFire SOCOM556-RC through a SureFire training course with no malfunctions. Best group at home was a little over 1 in. at 100 yd. Read the review
PEW Science: Its standard 10.3 in. suppressor test host is built on a factory Daniel Defense MK18 upper (SSS.6.51).
Daniel Defense MK18 RIII
The MK18 RIII keeps the MK18's 10.3 in. barrel and adds Daniel Defense's fully ambidextrous DD4 lower and the M-LOK RIS III 9.5 rail.
Barrel: 10.3 in., 1:7, chrome lined | Gas: Carbine | Rail: RIS III 9.5, M-LOK | Length: 26.75 to 29.875 in. | Weight: 5.73 lb | Muzzle: DD Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28 | Handguard: Black or FDE
The RIS III is modeled after the RIS II, in M-LOK to save weight. Its lower section comes off without affecting the rail, and flush QD points on each side near the receiver mean you don't need an add-on QD mount.
The bolt catch, magazine release and safety are all ambidextrous, so a left-handed shooter can run the rifle without taking the firing hand off the grip. If you want the same rail and lower with an 11.5 in. barrel, look at the DD4 RIII S.
Daniel Defense MK18 Pistol
The MK18 Pistol has the MK18 SBR's 10.3 in. barrel, carbine gas and RIS II quad rail, with an SB Tactical SBA3 brace instead of a stock.
Barrel: 10.3 in., 1:7, chrome lined | Rail: RIS II MK18 | Brace: SB Tactical SBA3, 5 positions | Length: 28.625 in. | Weight: 5.85 lb | Muzzle: DD Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28
It's sold as a pistol, not an SBR, so it isn't an NFA item. At checkout you can choose home delivery, pickup at one of our Capitol Armory locations or shipping to a dealer you choose.
MK18 Pistol or SBR? The SBR has DD's buttstock on a 6-position receiver extension and collapses to 26.75 in. If you buy the pistol now and want the SBR later, our Form 1 filing service handles the paperwork.
DDM4 V7: V7 S SBR and V7 Rifles
The V7 family runs on DD's MFR rail: M-LOK on the sides and bottom and an uninterrupted 1913 Picatinny rail on top. The V7 S is the SBR; the V7, V7 SLW and V7 Pro are rifles.
| Barrel | Gas | Rail | Muzzle | Length | Weight | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DDM4 V7 S | 11.5 in. Government | Carbine | MFR 10.0 | Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28 | 27.875 to 31.25 in. | 5.8 lb |
| DDM4 V7 | 16 in. Government | Mid-length | MFR 15.0 | Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28 | 32.25 to 35.875 in. | 6.2 lb |
| DDM4 V7 SLW | 14.5 in. Lightweight | Mid-length | MFR 13.5 | Pinned and welded to 16 in. | 31.5 to 34.75 in. | 5.9 lb |
| DDM4 V7 Pro | 18 in. S2W | Rifle | MFR 15.0 | Muzzle Climb Mitigator, 1/2x28 | 34.75 to 37.875 in. | 7.4 lb |
Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 S
The DDM4 V7 S is the 11.5 in. SBR version of the V7, with carbine gas and the MFR 10.0 M-LOK rail.
Barrel: 11.5 in., 1:7, chrome lined | Gas: Carbine | Rail: MFR 10.0, M-LOK | Length: 27.875 to 31.25 in. | Weight: 5.8 lb | Muzzle: DD Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28
Compared with the MK18 SBR, it's 1.2 in. more barrel and 1.125 in. longer collapsed, and 0.08 lb lighter.
V7 S or DD4 RIII S? Same 11.5 in. barrel and length. The V7 S has the MFR rail and a mil-spec lower. The DD4 RIII S adds the fully ambidextrous lower and the RIS III rail in FDE, at 0.12 lb more.
Test results and reviews
Athlon Outdoors, 2018: Shot the 11.5 in. V7 S suppressed with a DD Wave and described it as an M-LOK update of the MK18. Range impressions only; no groups were measured. Read the review
Daniel Defense DDM4 V7
The DDM4 V7 is the 16 in. rifle: mid-length gas, the MFR 15.0 rail and 6.2 lb.
Barrel: 16 in., 1:7, chrome lined | Gas: Mid-length | Rail: MFR 15.0, M-LOK | Length: 32.25 to 35.875 in. | Weight: 6.2 lb | Muzzle: DD Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28 | Colors: Black, Mil Spec+
It's Daniel Defense's top-selling DDM4, and it isn't an NFA item, so at checkout you can choose home delivery, pickup at one of our Capitol Armory locations or shipping to a dealer you choose. The independently ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP charging handle and ambi safety come standard.
V7 or V7 S? The V7 S is 4.375 in. shorter collapsed and 0.4 lb lighter, on carbine gas. The V7 has the 16 in. barrel and no NFA paperwork.
Test results and reviews
Guns & Ammo, 2017: Shot the 16 in. V7 prone at 100 yd with a Trijicon optic. Black Hills 77 gr grouped about 1.25 in., and they called it a strong general-purpose rifle. Read the review
Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 SLW
The DDM4 V7 SLW has a 14.5 in. lightweight-profile barrel with an extended flash suppressor pinned and welded to reach 16 in., so it ships as a standard rifle.
Barrel: 14.5 in. Lightweight, 1:7 | Gas: Mid-length | Rail: MFR 13.5, M-LOK | Length: 31.5 to 34.75 in. | Weight: 5.9 lb
At 5.9 lb it's 0.3 lb lighter than the 16 in. V7 and 0.75 in. shorter collapsed.
The flash suppressor is permanent, so the 1/2x28 threads under it aren't available for a suppressor mount. If you plan to run a suppressor, get the DDM4 V7 or DDM4 V7 S instead.
Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 Pro
The DDM4 V7 Pro is the multi-gun V7: an 18 in. S2W barrel, rifle-length gas, a Geissele Super Dynamic 3-Gun trigger and DD's Muzzle Climb Mitigator.
Barrel: 18 in. S2W, 1:7, chrome lined | Gas: Rifle | Trigger: Geissele SD-3G | Rail: MFR 15.0, M-LOK | Length: 34.75 to 37.875 in. | Weight: 7.4 lb
The rifle-length gas system and the Muzzle Climb Mitigator work to keep the muzzle down between shots, and the MFR 15.0 gives you the full sight radius for rail-mounted irons.
It's the heaviest V7 at 7.4 lb. For a suppressor, swap the Muzzle Climb Mitigator for a mount on the 1/2x28 threads.
DD4 RIII S and GL/SSC SBR
Daniel Defense DD4 RIII S
The DD4 RIII S is an 11.5 in. 5.56 SBR with Daniel Defense's fully ambidextrous DD4 lower and the RIS III 10.5 M-LOK rail in FDE.
Barrel: 11.5 in., 1:7, chrome lined | Gas: Carbine | Rail: RIS III 10.5, M-LOK, FDE | Length: 27.875 to 31.25 in. | Weight: 5.92 lb | Muzzle: DD Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28
It's the MK18 RIII's setup with 1.2 in. more barrel: same ambidextrous bolt catch, magazine release and safety, same detachable lower rail section and flush QD points, and a fully ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP charging handle.
Test results and reviews
Athlon Outdoors, 2023: Shot the 11.5 in. RIII S and found the recoil easy to manage. Range impressions only. Read the review
Guns & Ammo, 2025: Tested the 16 in. DD4 RIII from a bench at 100 yd: a 1.2 in. average across three loads and a 0.7 in. best group with Hornady 55 gr soft points. The trigger measured 5 lb 8 oz. Read the review
Daniel Defense GL/SSC SBR
GL/SSC stands for Grenade Launcher / Sound Suppressor Capable. The GL/SSC SBR puts DD's free-floating GL/SSC RIS II rail, with the M203 mounting components built in, on a 12.5 in. barrel.
Barrel: 12.5 in., 1:7, chrome lined | Gas: Carbine | Rail: GL/SSC RIS II | Length: 29 to 32.25 in. | Weight: 6.2 lb | Muzzle: DD A2 Flash Hider, 1/2x28
The rail's hanger system takes M203 mounting components with no extra parts or tools. It's the longest 5.56 SBR we carry from Daniel Defense, 2.2 in. more barrel than the MK18.
300 BLK: DDM4 PDW and DDM4 ISR
Both use a pistol-length gas system and are built to run subsonic and supersonic 300 BLK. The PDW is the shortest SBR we carry from Daniel Defense, and you add the suppressor. The ISR comes with its suppressor built in.
Daniel Defense DDM4 PDW SBR
The DDM4 PDW is Daniel Defense's 7 in. 300 BLK SBR, with the MFR XL 6.0 rail and a Maxim Defense CQB Gen 7 stock. It's 21 in. long collapsed.
Barrel: 7 in. S2W, 1:7, chrome lined | Gas: Pistol | Stock: Maxim CQB Gen 7 | Length: 21 to 25.5 in. | Weight: 5.7 lb | Muzzle: DD Linear Compensator, 5/8x24 | Colors: Black, Cobalt
The 7 in. barrel keeps subsonic loads subsonic, and the 1:7 twist handles both subsonic and supersonic ammo. The Maxim stock fires while fully collapsed, with Maxim's Enhanced Buffer System. It ships with a Magpul PMAG 30.
For a suppressor, pick a .30 cal rated for 300 BLK on a 7 in. barrel. The Linear Compensator comes off the 5/8x24 threads for a mount.
Test results and reviews
Guns & Ammo, 2020: Fired five 5-shot groups at 100 yd from the 7 in. PDW. Best was 1.56 in. with SIG 125 gr Match, the average across loads was just over 2 in., and subsonic groups opened up by about half. Read the review
American Rifleman, 2020: With a Trijicon MRO, 5-shot groups at 50 paces averaged under 1.5 in. Read the review
Athlon Outdoors, 2023: Shot about 1.5 in. groups offhand. The one hiccup came with a Hornady subsonic load. Read the review
Daniel Defense DDM4 PDW Pistol
The DDM4 PDW Pistol is the same 7 in. 300 BLK upper with a Maxim Defense CQB Pistol Brace.
Barrel: 7 in. S2W, 1:7 | Brace: Maxim CQB Pistol Brace | Length: 20.75 to 24.75 in. | Weight: 5.7 lb | Muzzle: DD Linear Compensator, 5/8x24
It isn't an NFA item, so at checkout you can choose home delivery, pickup at one of our Capitol Armory locations or shipping to a dealer you choose. Same barrel, rail, buffer system and magazine as the PDW SBR.
Daniel Defense DDM4 ISR
The DDM4 ISR (sold as the ISR Gen 2) is a 300 BLK with a 9 in. barrel and a stainless integral suppressor pinned and welded to bring the barrel to 16 in.
Barrel: 9 in. S2W, fluted, 1:8 | Gas: Pistol, ISR integrated gas block | Suppressor: Stainless, 17-4PH monolithic baffle, Cerakote-C | Rail: MFR XL 15.0, KeyMod | Length: 31.5 to 34.75 in. | Weight: 7.57 lb | Colors: Black, Mil Spec+
Because the barrel measures 16 in. with the suppressor, the ISR isn't an SBR, and the suppressor is its only NFA item. You never mount a can or check alignment, and the zero doesn't shift between suppressed and unsuppressed because it's always suppressed. The baffle core comes out for cleaning. The current ISR is the second version, with the 9 in. barrel and the MFR XL 15.0 rail; the original had a 10.3 in. barrel.
The MFR XL rail uses KeyMod, not M-LOK, so check your accessories. At 7.57 lb, the ISR is also 1.87 lb heavier than the PDW SBR before you add a suppressor to the PDW. It comes with a DD vertical grip and a Magpul PMAG 30.
Daniel Defense PCC: SBR, Pistol and Breacher's PCC SD
The DD PCC is a 9mm direct-blowback carbine with shorter receivers than a standard AR-15, a cold hammer forged stainless 8.3 in. barrel, a fully ambidextrous lower and a pushbutton magazine release instead of the paddle release most PCCs use. It runs CZ Scorpion magazines, and a hydraulic buffer takes the edge off blowback recoil.
Daniel Defense PCC SBR
The DD PCC SBR has the DD buttstock with the hydraulic buffer system and the 7 in. DD4 M-LOK rail.
Barrel: 8.3 in. S2W stainless, 1:10 | Action: Direct blowback | Rail: DD4 7.0, M-LOK | Length: 22.5 to 27 in. | Weight: 6.1 lb | Muzzle: DD A2 Flash Hider, 1/2x28 | Magazine: CZ Scorpion
The buffer system runs suppressed or unsuppressed, and the 1/2x28 threads take standard 9mm muzzle devices and direct thread mounts. The NULL 9Ti is Daniel Defense's own 9mm can, built for blowback PCCs like this one.
PCC SBR or PCC Pistol? Same upper and same 22.5 to 27 in. length. The SBR has a stock and weighs 6.1 lb; the pistol has a brace and weighs 5.9 lb.
Test results and reviews
Shooting Illustrated, 2025: Tested the 16 in. DD PCC at 50 yd. Hornady 115 gr Critical Defense averaged 0.97 in., and 150 rounds ran without a malfunction. The trigger measured 7 lb 14 oz and felt gritty, the reviewer's one complaint. Read the review
NRA Family, 2025: Tested the 16 in. DD PCC at 50 yd. The best average was 1.4 in. with Winchester 147 gr, and it ran every 9mm load they tried. They wished it came with flip-up irons. Read the review
Daniel Defense PCC Pistol
The DD PCC Pistol is the same 8.3 in. 9mm with an SB Tactical SB3 5-position brace.
Barrel: 8.3 in. S2W stainless, 1:10 | Brace: SB Tactical SB3 | Length: 22.5 to 27 in. | Weight: 5.9 lb | Muzzle: DD A2 Flash Hider, 1/2x28 | Magazine: CZ Scorpion
It isn't an NFA item, so at checkout you can choose home delivery, pickup at one of our Capitol Armory locations or shipping to a dealer you choose. It comes with a DD M-LOK handstop.
Breacher's Custom Guns Daniel Defense PCC SD
Breacher's Custom Guns starts with a DD PCC, reworks the barrel into a ported 5.75 in. barrel and adds an 8 in. integral SD suppressor, its own SD handguard and a DD vertical grip. The PCC's hydraulic buffer stays.
Barrel: 5.75 in., ported | Suppressor: 8 in. integral SD | Weight: 7 lb | Magazine: CZ Scorpion | NFA: Two items: SBR and suppressor
Breacher's Custom Guns is a custom AR shop in Scottsdale, Arizona, and each SD is built individually. The porting is set up to run standard 115 gr ball subsonic, so you don't need special subsonic 9mm. Breacher's tests its DD SD guns with Magtech 115 gr FMJ, so that's the load to start with. If it's out of stock, sign up for the back-in-stock email on its product page, or call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. We'll guarantee you one from the next shipment.
Because the integral suppressor fits over the barrel, reflex style, it has more internal volume than a can of the same length threaded onto the muzzle, and it adds less length to the gun. In general, that makes an integrally suppressed gun like this one shorter overall and quieter than the same gun with a suppressor threaded on.
Breacher's SD or a PCC SBR with a can? The SD is the shorter, quieter package, built as one suppressed system. The PCC SBR with a separate can lets you pick your suppressor and take it off for other hosts.
Daniel Defense DD5: SBR and V3
The DD5 is Daniel Defense's .308 platform. Two features set it apart: the 4-Bolt Connection System attaches the barrel to the upper with four bolts instead of a barrel nut, and a user-adjustable gas block lets you tune it for suppressed or unsuppressed shooting. Both take SR-25 pattern magazines and ship with a Magpul PMAG 20.
Daniel Defense DD5 SBR
The DD5 SBR puts the DD5 on a 12.5 in. S2W barrel with mid-length gas and the DD5 Rail 10.5.
Barrel: 12.5 in. S2W, 1:10, chrome lined | Gas: Mid-length, adjustable | Rail: DD5 Rail 10.5, M-LOK | Length: 30.38 to 33.63 in. | Weight: 8.2 lb | Muzzle: DD Linear Compensator, 5/8x24
The DLC-coated bolt carrier has a built-in buffer, the bolt has dual ejectors, and the controls are fully ambidextrous. It comes with an M-LOK handstop.
DD5 SBR or DD5 V3? The SBR is 3 in. shorter collapsed and 0.1 lb lighter. The V3 gives you 16 in. of barrel with no NFA paperwork.
Daniel Defense DD5 V3
The DD5 V3 is the 16 in. DD5, with an intermediate-length gas system and the DD5 Rail 15.0.
Barrel: 16 in. S2W, 1:10, chrome lined | Gas: Intermediate, adjustable | Rail: DD5 Rail 15.0, M-LOK | Length: 33.375 to 37 in. | Weight: 8.3 lb | Muzzle: DD Superior Suppression Device, 5/8x24
It isn't an NFA item, so at checkout you can choose home delivery, pickup at one of our Capitol Armory locations or shipping to a dealer you choose. It has a 7-position receiver extension and DD's Mil-Spec trigger.
Test results and reviews
Athlon Outdoors, 2021: Tested the 16 in. DD5 V3 at 100 yd. The best 5-shot group was 0.50 in. with SIG 168 gr OTM, and 350+ rounds ran with no problems. The reviewer found its recoil smoother than a competing .308 AR but liked that rifle's two-stage trigger better than DD's mil-spec trigger. Read the review
Daniel Defense Suppressors: MUTE 30Ti and NULL 9Ti
Daniel Defense introduced the MUTE 30Ti and NULL 9Ti at SHOT Show 2026, after discontinuing the Wave. Both are weldless, fully 3D-printed titanium with an integral flash hider. The MUTE is a .30 cal can for bolt guns, and the NULL is a 9mm can for PCCs.
Daniel Defense MUTE 30Ti
The MUTE 30Ti is a 3D-printed titanium .30 cal suppressor for bolt-action precision and hunting rifles, rated up to .300 Win Mag.
Calibers: .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, .300 Win Mag, .300 PRC | Length: 6.86 in. | Diameter: 1.55 in. | Weight: 8.4 oz | Mount: HUB compatible | Full-auto: No
Its low-flow design is aimed at as much sound reduction as possible, and the smaller diameter keeps it out of your scope's field of view. Minimum barrel length is 12.5 in. for .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor and 18 in. for .300 Win Mag and .300 PRC.
It's built for slow, deliberate fire on a bolt gun: keep it under 60 rounds per minute. For a DD5 or another gas gun, see the .30 cal cans in the Suppressor fit table below. It's HUB compatible out of the box, so it moves between rifles that each have a HUB mount.
| Length | Weight | Diameter | Mount | Rated to | |

Daniel Defense NULL 9Ti
The NULL 9Ti is a 4.4 oz, 3D-printed titanium 9mm suppressor with a high-flow design built for blowback PCCs.
Calibers: 9mm, 300 BLK | Length: 5.08 in. | Diameter: 1.41 in. | Weight: 4.4 oz | Mount: Mini-HUB (1.125x28), also called Alpha | Ships with: 1/2x28 direct thread Mini-HUB mount
High flow means less blowback and less gas and particulate in your face on a PCC. It's rated for 9mm and subsonic 300 BLK with no barrel length limit; supersonic 300 BLK needs a 7 in. or longer barrel and is semi-auto only.
It also takes the SilencerCo Alpha ASR Mount, SilencerCo 3-Lug Mount, Rugged Obsidian Fixed Mount and Rugged Obsidian Dual Taper Mount. It has no booster, so handgun function depends on the pistol and ammunition. It's primarily a PCC suppressor.
| Length | Weight | Material | Mount | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NULL 9Ti | 5.08 in. | 4.4 oz | 3D-printed titanium | Mini-HUB (Alpha), 1/2x28 DT included |

The NULL 9Ti is the lightest 9mm PCC can in this group by 2.9 oz. The SilencerCo Omega 9K is the shortest, by about half an inch. For more 9mm options, see our pistol suppressors.

Daniel Defense FAQ
Is the Daniel Defense MK18 an SBR?
The MK18 SBR is. It has a stock on a 10.3 in. barrel, so it's a short-barreled rifle and an NFA item. The MK18 Pistol uses the same 10.3 in. upper with an SB Tactical SBA3 brace and is sold as a pistol, not an NFA item.
How long is a Daniel Defense MK18?
The MK18 SBR and MK18 RIII measure 26.75 to 29.875 in. with the muzzle device, depending on stock position. The MK18 Pistol measures 28.625 in.
How much does the Daniel Defense MK18 SBR weigh?
The MK18 SBR weighs 5.88 lb. The MK18 RIII weighs 5.73 lb, and the MK18 Pistol weighs 5.85 lb.
What is the Daniel Defense MK18 barrel length and twist rate?
The MK18 barrel is 10.3 in., cold hammer forged and chrome lined, in DD's Government profile, with a 1:7 twist and a carbine-length gas system. It's threaded 1/2x28.
What's the difference between the MK18 and the MK18 RIII?
Same 10.3 in. barrel and the same length. The MK18 SBR has the RIS II Picatinny quad rail and a mil-spec lower. The MK18 RIII has the M-LOK RIS III 9.5 rail and a fully ambidextrous lower, and it weighs 0.15 lb less.
Daniel Defense MK18 vs. DDM4 V7: what's the difference?
The MK18 is a 10.3 in. SBR on the RIS II quad rail. The DDM4 V7 is a 16 in. rifle with mid-length gas and the MFR 15.0 M-LOK rail, and it isn't an NFA item. The DDM4 V7 S sits between them: an 11.5 in. SBR on the MFR 10.0 rail.
Is the Daniel Defense MK18 the same as the military MK18?
Not exactly. The MK18 upper used for CQB work runs a 10.3 in. barrel, and USSOCOM has used Daniel Defense's RIS II rail in the SOPMOD Block II program since 2006. Daniel Defense's MK18 SBR is its own complete rifle built around that barrel length and the RIS II rail. The military designation doesn't call for a Daniel Defense lower.
Is the Daniel Defense MK18 discontinued?
No. Daniel Defense still lists the MK18 SBR, MK18 RIII and MK18 Pistol.
Is the Daniel Defense DDM4 PDW discontinued?
No. Daniel Defense still lists the DDM4 PDW as an SBR and as a pistol, both in 300 BLK with a 7 in. barrel.
What gas system does the Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 use?
The 16 in. DDM4 V7 and the V7 SLW use a mid-length gas system. The 11.5 in. V7 S uses carbine gas, and the 18 in. V7 Pro uses rifle-length gas.
What thread pitch are Daniel Defense barrels?
The 5.56 models and the 9mm PCC are threaded 1/2x28. The 300 BLK DDM4 PDW and the .308 DD5 SBR and DD5 V3 are threaded 5/8x24. The V7 SLW's flash suppressor is pinned and welded, and the ISR's suppressor is permanent.
What's the best suppressor for a Daniel Defense MK18 or DDM4 V7?
On the MK18 and the 11.5 and 12.5 in. SBRs, we pair short 5.56 suppressors: the CAT ST, Dead Air Sierra 5, HUXWRX Flow 556K, SilencerCo Velos LBP 556K and SureFire SOCOM556-MINI4. On the 16 in. V7 and V7 Pro, we pair the Dead Air CT5P, Exigent FireTeam556, HUXWRX Flow 556K, OCL Polonium and SilencerCo Velos LBP 556. Each one mounts to the 1/2x28 threads with its own mount or muzzle device.
What's the best suppressor for the Daniel Defense PCC?
Daniel Defense's own NULL 9Ti is built for blowback PCCs like the DD PCC and weighs 4.4 oz. We also pair the CAT MOB, Dead Air Mojave 9, Energetic Armament Sonus, Exigent RICO309, HUXWRX Flow 9K PCC, OCL Milkman, Rugged Sub9 and SilencerCo Omega 9K.
What magazines does the Daniel Defense PCC use?
The DD PCC SBR and PCC Pistol take CZ Scorpion magazines, which come in several capacities. The Breacher's PCC SD takes them too.
Is the Daniel Defense ISR an SBR?
No. The DDM4 ISR has a 9 in. barrel, but its integral suppressor is pinned and welded to bring the barrel to 16 in., so it isn't an SBR. The suppressor is its only NFA item.
What is the Breacher's Custom Guns Daniel Defense SD?
It's a DD PCC that Breacher's Custom Guns rebuilds with a ported 5.75 in. barrel, an 8 in. integral SD suppressor, an SD handguard and a DD vertical grip, keeping the PCC's hydraulic buffer. The porting lets standard 115 gr ball run subsonic. The suppressor fits over the barrel, reflex style, so in general it's shorter overall and quieter than a PCC with a suppressor threaded on. It's two NFA items: an SBR and a suppressor.
What does GL/SSC mean on a Daniel Defense?
GL/SSC stands for Grenade Launcher / Sound Suppressor Capable. The GL/SSC SBR has the GL/SSC RIS II rail, with the M203 mounting components built in, on a 12.5 in. barrel.
What's the difference between Daniel Defense DDM4 and DD4?
DDM4 is Daniel Defense's AR-15 family, including the DDM4 V7, DDM4 V7 S, DDM4 PDW and DDM4 ISR. DD4 is the fully ambidextrous lower receiver Daniel Defense introduced in 2022 with its RIII series: the bolt catch, magazine release and safety are all ambidextrous. You'll find the DD4 lower on the DD4 RIII S and MK18 RIII, paired with the M-LOK RIS III rail.
What is the Daniel Defense DD4 RIII S?
The DD4 RIII S is an 11.5 in. 5.56 SBR with Daniel Defense's fully ambidextrous DD4 lower and the RIS III 10.5 M-LOK rail in FDE. It's the MK18 RIII's setup with 1.2 in. more barrel.
Is the Daniel Defense Wave suppressor discontinued?
Yes. Daniel Defense discontinued the Wave line. Its newer suppressors are the MUTE 30Ti and NULL 9Ti, the next generation of DD's 3D-printed suppressors in weldless titanium.
What's the difference between the Daniel Defense MUTE 30Ti and NULL 9Ti?
The MUTE 30Ti is a .30 cal suppressor for bolt guns, rated up to .300 Win Mag and .300 PRC. It's 6.86 in., 8.4 oz and HUB compatible. The NULL 9Ti is a 9mm PCC suppressor, also rated for 300 BLK. It's 5.08 in., 4.4 oz and mounts on Mini-HUB (Alpha).
Daniel Defense DD5 SBR vs. DD5 V3: what's the difference?
Both are .308 with the adjustable gas block and the 4-Bolt Connection System. The DD5 SBR has a 12.5 in. barrel with mid-length gas and is 3 in. shorter collapsed. The DD5 V3 has a 16 in. barrel with intermediate gas and isn't an NFA item.
Is Daniel Defense a good brand?
Daniel Defense makes its own cold hammer forged barrels and receivers in Black Creek, Georgia. USSOCOM has used its RIS II rail since 2006, and PEW Science builds its standard 10.3 in. suppressor test host on a factory Daniel Defense MK18 upper. The one knock reviewers repeat is the stock trigger, which some have measured close to 8 lb.
Is there an NFA tax on Daniel Defense SBRs in 2026?
No. Since January 1, 2026, the NFA tax on SBRs and suppressors is $0.
