DEAD AIR CT5P PATROL SUPPRESSOR - 5.56 LOW-BACKPRESSURE SILENCER, FULL-AUTO RATED
The Dead Air CT5P Patrol is a gas-regulated 5.56 NATO suppressor built from Haynes 282 superalloy using advanced additive manufacturing, rated for full-auto fire and engineered specifically for duty and patrol rifle use. The patent-pending Compact Triskelion baffle design, paired with Dead Air's Gas Management System, substantially reduces backpressure, bolt velocity changes, and toxic fume exposure on both direct impingement and piston-driven hosts. At 13.7 oz in direct thread configuration and 5.49 inches overall, the CT5P meets SOCOM SURG testing standards and covers 5.56 NATO and 6mm ARC with no barrel length restrictions. Available in direct thread, Xeno, and KeyMo configurations.
CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION
The CT5P Patrol stands out in the 5.56 suppressor market for a reason that doesn't show up in most spec sheets. It's built to actually manage gas rather than just containing it. The combination of the Compact Triskelion baffle geometry and the Gas Management System is an engineering solution to one of the most common complaints about running a suppressor on a direct impingement rifle - excess gas in your face, fouling on your BCG, and bolt velocity increase that accelerates wear. Dead Air addressed all three in the same design, and the result is a can that's notably more comfortable to shoot suppressed for extended periods than most competitors at this price point. The material used, Haynes 282, is typically found in turbine components, and it gives the CT5P durability that holds up under sustained full-auto fire without the weight penalty you'd expect. If you're running a patrol rifle, a duty AR, or just want a serious 5.56 suppressor that won't fight your platform, the CT5P is one of the most purpose-built options in this category.

What are the differences between the direct thread, Xeno, and KeyMo GOV models?
All three configurations use the same CT5P suppressor body. The difference is how the can attaches to your rifle. The direct thread model is the shortest and lightest option at 5.49 inches and 13.7 oz. It threads directly onto your barrel's muzzle threads (available in 1/2x28 or 5/8x24) with no adapter or muzzle device required. It's the simplest setup and the best choice if you're running a dedicated host and don't need to move the suppressor between rifles. The Xeno model adds 0.4 inches and 0.6 oz, using Dead Air's Xeno quick-detach system for fast one-handed attachment and removal. The KeyMo GOV model is the longest and heaviest of the three at 6.55 inches and 14.9 oz, but gives you Dead Air's new QD interface and cross-compatibility with KeyMo GOV muzzle devices.
What is the Gas Management System, and why does it matter?
On a direct impingement rifle, running a suppressor increases backpressure. The gas that has nowhere to go gets pushed back through the action, into the shooter's face, and through the bolt carrier group at a higher velocity than the rifle was tuned to handle. The result is more fouling, accelerated BCG wear, and a less comfortable shooting experience. Dead Air's Gas Management System addresses this directly. High-pressure gas is vented around the main baffle channel, forward of the muzzle, rather than being forced back through the action. The patent-pending Compact Triskelion baffle geometry works alongside the GMS to slow gas down and reduce both sound and backpressure simultaneously. The practical result is a suppressor that's noticeably more comfortable to run for extended periods, produces less fouling on your BCG, and reduces exposure to toxic fumes without sacrificing sound-reduction performance. It's the feature that separates the CT5P from most 5.56 suppressors at this price point.
Why doesn't the CT5P have a HUB mount?
That's a deliberate engineering decision, not an oversight. Removing the HUB interface from the rear of the suppressor is one of the key reasons the CT5P achieves its compact 5.49-inch profile in direct thread configuration. The HUB threading adds material and length to the rear of the can. Eliminating it allowed Dead Air to shorten and lighten the CT5P without compromising baffle volume. The tradeoff is that you won't be able to swap in third-party HUB-compatible mounts the way you can with the Lazarus 6 or Dead Air's other HUB suppressors. The CT5P is purpose-built around Dead Air's own Xeno and KeyMo GOV systems for QD use, or direct thread for maximum simplicity. If broad third-party mount compatibility is important to you, the Lazarus 6 is the better fit.
Is the CT5P only for law enforcement, or can civilians buy one?
Civilians can absolutely buy the CT5P. Dead Air developed it with patrol and duty use in mind, and it carries SOCOM SURG testing credentials, but none of that limits who can purchase one through the standard NFA process. The engineering priorities that make it useful for law enforcement (low backpressure, full-auto rating, compact profile, flash elimination on short barrels) are just as relevant for civilian shooters running ARs for home defense, competition, or general range use. The duty-focused marketing just means Dead Air built it to a higher standard than most consumer suppressors.
How does the CT5P compare to the Dead Air Sandman-X?
These two are solving different problems. The Sandman-X is a 7.62 NATO suppressor. It's built for .308 and larger rifle platforms, not 5.56. Both share the Haynes 282 additive manufacturing construction and Dead Air's low-backpressure baffle philosophy, but they don't directly compete on caliber. The CT5P is the 5.56/6mm ARC-specific option, optimized for the pressure and velocity profile of those cartridges with the Gas Management System dialed in for AR-pattern direct impingement hosts. The Sandman-X also retains HUB compatibility and interchangeable front caps, giving it more configuration flexibility across calibers. If you're running a 5.56 carbine, the CT5P is the right tool. If you're running a .308 or need one suppressor across both rifle calibers, the Sandman-X is worth a close look.
What's different between the CT5P and the Lazarus 6?
The Lazarus 6 and CT5P share the same Haynes 282 additive manufacturing and Triskelion baffle DNA, but they diverge in a few meaningful ways. The CT5P refines the baffle geometry into the Compact Triskelion design and pairs it with the Gas Management System, pushing backpressure reduction further than the Lazarus 6. It's also shorter in direct thread configuration. The Lazarus 6, by contrast, retains the HUB mounting interface. This means it works with KeyMo, Xeno, and a wide range of third-party HUB mounts. It also features a replaceable front cap, giving you additional configuration options. Think of the Lazarus 6 as the versatile civilian-oriented 5.56 can in the Dead Air lineup, and the CT5P as the stripped-down, purpose-engineered duty version that prioritizes backpressure management and compactness above all else.
