SILENCERCO VELOS LBP 556 SUPPRESSOR - FULL-SIZE, LOW BACK-PRESSURE, FULL-AUTO RATED

The SilencerCo Velos LBP 556 is a full-size, low back-pressure suppressor dedicated to .223 REM/5.56 NATO, built for AR-15s, short-barreled rifles, and full-auto hosts. Its 3D-printed Inconel 625 core is fully welded to 17-4 stainless steel front and rear modules, and the finished can measures 5.98" long and 1.73" in diameter at 15.2 oz. The Velos LBP 556 (model SU5059) is full-auto rated, compatible with belt-fed machine guns, and has no barrel length restrictions. SilencerCo lists a 137.1 dB muzzle average on a 16" AR-15.

SilencerCo designed the Velos LBP around low back-pressure technology that reduces the gas blown back into the shooter's face and its effect on the host firearm's operating system, while still maintaining sound suppression. In independent testing on a 10.3" MK18, PEW Science found it induced less bolt carrier speed increase than typical rifle silencer designs. The patented Hoplon blast baffle deflects debris to extend service life on short-barreled and full-auto firearms, and a V-Series Cerakote finish is applied to hold up to extreme use. SilencerCo places the series in its home defense and tactical categories, and the 556 is equally at home on any hard-use gas-operated rifle.

Mounting runs through SilencerCo's Charlie interface. Out of the box, the Velos LBP 556 is set up for quick-detach use with a SilencerCo Charlie ASR Mount (AC622) and an ASR Closed-Tine Flash Hider, along with a Charlie Internal Flash Hider Front Cap that hides an inverted flash hider behind a flat front cap. Other ASR devices, such as the ASR Muzzle Brake or ASR Flash Hider, lock into the same mount. Shooters who want a shorter overall setup can move to the SilencerCo Charlie Direct Thread Mount, and the SilencerCo Thread Over Mount (TOM) paired with a TOMD Compact Radial Brake adds one more quick-attach option.

CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION

Anyone who has run a traditional can on a short-barreled AR knows how it goes. You get gas in your face, a filthy bolt carrier after one range trip, and a rifle that runs harder than it should. The Velos LBP 556 is SilencerCo's answer to that. Rather than accepting backpressure as part of shooting suppressed, they built the core around moving gas forward and away from the action, and that 3D-printed Inconel is a big reason it can also carry a full-auto rating with no barrel length restrictions.

That toughness is exactly why the Velos LBP 556 is our go-to on the shop's belt-fed weapons. It's just as comfortable on a 10.3" or 7.5" host, so you don't have to pick between a pleasant shooting experience and a can that can take real abuse. It does have a noticeable first-round pop on short barrels, so it isn't the quietest 5.56 can out there, but the trade is worth it for how much nicer the rifle is to run. The Charlie mount is a plus too, since a Dead Air KeyMo or Plan B by Q adapter you already own drops right into the setup.

If you want the shortest package possible, the SilencerCo Velos LBP 556K trims about 1.2" and 2.8 oz off the full-size can. If you need coverage beyond 5.56, the SilencerCo Velos LBP 762 brings the same Velos durability up to .30 caliber. For anyone building a suppressed SBR, AR pistol, or belt-fed, the 556 is one of the most practical 5.56 cans you can put on a Form 4.
