DANIEL DEFENSE DDM4 V7 SLW - LIGHTWEIGHT 14.5" PINNED AND WELDED 5.56 AR-15

The Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 SLW is a 5.56mm NATO AR-15 style rifle built around a 14.5" cold hammer-forged, Lightweight profile barrel. Daniel Defense calls it one of the lightest, fastest-handling rifles in the DDM4 lineup, and it weighs 5.9 lbs. A mid-length gas system and a free-floating Daniel Defense MFR 13.5" M-LOK handguard round out the core of the build.

To reach the NFA-required 16" minimum barrel length, Daniel Defense pins and welds an extended flash suppressor to the 14.5" barrel. The barrel is threaded 1/2x28 underneath, but because the flash suppressor is permanent, those threads aren't available for direct thread mounts or other muzzle devices. Overall length runs 34.75" with the muzzle device installed.

The mid-length gas system provides smooth, reliable cycling while reducing perceived recoil and wear on moving parts. The MFR 13.5 handguard offers M-LOK attachment points along 7 positions and an uninterrupted 1913 Picatinny rail on top, leaving plenty of room for sights, optics, and accessories. An independently ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP Charging Handle accommodates left- and right-handed shooters, and the rifle comes with the Daniel Defense Buttstock and Pistol Grip. 

CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION

The DDM4 V7 SLW is a good fit if you want a light, quick-handling AR-15 without dealing with NFA paperwork. The pinned and welded flash suppressor brings the 14.5" barrel to the 16" minimum, so it ships as a standard rifle, and at 5.9 lbs it's easy to carry and keep on target through long range days.

Just keep in mind that the flash suppressor is permanent. If you plan to run a suppressor on this rifle, it's not going to be an easy task. You'll also want to budget for sights or an optic, since none are included.
