DANIEL DEFENSE MK18 RIII - 10.3" 5.56 AR-15 SHORT BARREL RIFLE WITH RIS III M-LOK RAIL

The Daniel Defense MK18 RIII is a 5.56mm NATO AR15 style short barrel rifle that builds on Daniel Defense's MK18 with a fully ambidextrous lower receiver. It's built around a free-floating, 10.3" cold hammer forged Government profile barrel, the same length used on the MK18 upper most commonly used for CQB operations, paired with a carbine-length gas system and a 9.5" RIS III M-LOK rail. The MK18 RIII weighs 5.73 lbs and measures 26.75" to 29.875" overall with the muzzle device.

Its proprietary lower receiver lets both left- and right-handed shooters operate the bolt catch, safety selector, and magazine release without moving their dominant hand from the grip. An ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP Charging Handle carries that same left- and right-handed access to the charging handle, and the rifle comes with the Daniel Defense Buttstock and Pistol Grip.

The RIS III rail is modeled after the RIS II two-piece handguard developed for SOCOM, with M-LOK attachment for lighter weight. Daniel Defense's patented 6-bolt Bolt-Up System lets the rail free float the barrel, the lower section is removable without affecting structural integrity, and flush integral QD points on each side near the receiver eliminate the need for an aftermarket QD mount.

At the muzzle, the Daniel Defense Flash Suppressor reduces flash signature compared to a traditional A2 birdcage and threads onto a standard 1/2x28 barrel thread, so it can be swapped for a direct thread mount or suppressor-compatible muzzle device. CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION

The MK18 RIII takes the size and barrel length that made the MK18 a close quarters favorite and makes the controls fully ambidextrous. If you're a left-handed shooter, or you just want to run the bolt catch and mag release from either side without breaking your grip, that's a meaningful upgrade.

We also like the RIS III rail. Daniel Defense modeled it after the SOCOM RIS II, and the removable lower section and built-in QD points make it easy to set up exactly how you want. With a 10.3" barrel and 1/2x28 threads, it's a natural suppressor host.
