SILENCERCO VELOS LBP 556K SUPPRESSOR - COMPACT, LOW BACK-PRESSURE, FULL-AUTO RATED

The SilencerCo Velos LBP 556K is a compact, low back-pressure 5.56 suppressor for AR-15s and short-barreled rifles, and the shortest model in SilencerCo's Velos LBP Series. It is built from a 3D printed Inconel 625 core fully welded to 17-4 stainless steel front and rear modules, measuring 4.76" long and 1.73" in diameter at 12.4 oz. The Velos LBP 556K (model SU5420) is dedicated to .223 REM/5.56 NATO, full-auto rated, compatible with belt-fed machine guns, and has no barrel length restrictions. SilencerCo rates it at 140.4 dB on a 16" AR.

Its low back-pressure design reduces the amount of gas blown back into the shooter's face and limits the suppressor's effect on the host firearm's operating system, cutting down on blowback with AR-15s and other gas-operated rifles. SilencerCo correctly calls the Velos LBP Series the most durable suppressor it has ever made, due in part to the patented Hoplon blast baffle, which deflects debris and increases the suppressor's lifespan on short-barreled and full-auto firearms. A V-Series Cerakote finish is applied to hold up to extreme use, which suits the 556K to the home defense and tactical roles SilencerCo designed the series for.

The Velos LBP 556K uses SilencerCo's Charlie mounting interface and ships ready for quick attach and detach with a SilencerCo Charlie ASR Mount (AC622) and an ASR Closed-Tine Flash Hider. The included Charlie Internal Flash Hider Front Cap places an inverted flash hider inside a flat front cap to minimize flash. The same ASR mount also works with the ASR Flash Hider and ASR Muzzle Brake, while the SilencerCo Charlie Direct Thread Mount shortens overall length compared to the ASR setup, and the SilencerCo Thread Over Mount (TOM) pairs with a TOMD Compact Radial Brake.

CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION

The Velos LBP 556K is built for shooters who need an extremely durable, compact silencer with little backpressure. It's perfect on SBRs and select-fire weapons, and even belt-fed use won't hurt it at all. We reach for it when we need some suppression on very abusive host weapons but want the shortest size possible. The Hoplon blast baffle pays off over time on any hard-use host, and with no barrel length restrictions, you can run it hard without a second thought.

There are tradeoffs to know about. Because it's both low backpressure and compact, the 556K is a bit of a spicy suppressor. It's also a bit heavy for a can this size, but that weight is the price you pay for one of the most durable, hard-use silencers on the market. Mounting is flexible, too. If you already own Charlie-compatible mounts or front caps from a Saker or Chimera, they transfer directly, and the Dead Air KeyMo Adapter and Plan B by Q Suppressor Adapter add options for shooters with mixed mounting hardware.

Most buyers opt for the full-size SilencerCo Velos LBP 556, which is a solid option for maximum decibel reduction while still keeping durability up and backpressure down. The 556K still has a place when it comes to the shortest overall suppressed 5.56 setups on the market.
