Magco Arms Suppressor Buying Guide
Magco Arms builds its suppressors in La Cygne, Kansas, from laser-welded 17-4 stainless steel heat treated to H900. We sell the EDS-30K, EDS-30S, EDS-30L and EDS-30XL, and we can get Magco's .36 cal Canned Ham. The sections below compare the models and explain where each one fits.
How to Choose a Magco Suppressor
The EDS-30 uses the same basic design in four lengths. Every EDS-30 has the same 1.6 in. diameter, the same welded stainless build and the same caliber rating, 5.56 through 300 Win Mag. The main choice is how much length and weight you'll trade for sound.
A few things to know
- Names: the EDS-30 is Magco's .30 cal line, in K (shortest), S, L and XL (longest). The Canned Ham is its .36 cal line in K, S and L, for pistol calibers up to .338 Lapua.
- Build: 17-4 stainless heat treated to H900 and laser welded, with no threaded joints in the body. It's heavier than a titanium can of the same size, and it can't be taken apart.
- Best on bolt guns: the EDS-30 runs on gas guns, but PEW Science describes the EDS-30L's back pressure as significant and says it's intended for bolt-action rifles. On an AR-10 or a 5.56 AR, expect more gas back at your face. On a bolt-action precision or hunting rifle, it doesn't matter.
- Mounts: every Magco has a HUB (1.375x24) rear and comes with a 5/8x24 direct thread mount. See Mounts.
- Full-auto: every EDS-30 and Canned Ham is full-auto rated.
- Finishes: the EDS-30K, EDS-30S and EDS-30L come in Raw, Brushed and Black Cerakote, and the EDS-30XL in Raw and Black Cerakote.
Choosing by configuration
- 300 BLK SBR, or the shortest .30 cal: the EDS-30K, 5.25 in. and 10.3 oz, rated down to a 5 in. barrel with subsonic 300 BLK.
- One can for several rifles: the EDS-30S, 6.625 in. and 13.5 oz.
- Bolt-action .308 or 300 Win Mag: the EDS-30L, 7.875 in. and 17 oz, with a PEW Science Suppression Rating of 53.3 on a 20 in. .308.
- The most suppression, length doesn't matter: the EDS-30XL, 9 in. and 20.2 oz.
- 9mm, .357 Magnum, 8.6 BLK or .338 Lapua: the Canned Ham.
Available by pre-order: the Canned Ham K, S and L, plus any Magco we carry that's out of stock. Call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. You can also sign up for the back-in-stock email on any product page.

What Magco Arms Is Known For
Magco Arms came out of more than 20 years of building food and pharmaceutical equipment, where precision and consistency aren't optional. It's new to suppressors, and it builds them in house in La Cygne, Kansas.
- Value: Magco makes some of the lower-priced .30 cal suppressors we carry.
- Tested performance: PEW Science rated the EDS-30L 53.3 on a 20 in. .308 bolt gun and said it "produces the highest suppression on the tested weapon system in the 8-in long size class by a significant margin" (SSS.6.219, March 2026).
- Construction: all 17-4 stainless, heat treated to H900 and laser welded. PEW Science's take: the stainless construction "is likely durable enough for firing schedules more severe than typically allowed with competing titanium models."
- Stuck mounts: the welded end cap has a 3/8 in. hex, so you can put a wrench on the suppressor if a HUB mount ever seizes.
- Warranty: every Magco suppressor has a lifetime limited warranty, and it transfers with the suppressor, should you sell it down the road.
Magco EDS-30 Suppressors: EDS-30K, EDS-30S, EDS-30L and EDS-30XL
The EDS-30 is Magco's .30 cal line. All four lengths share the same 1.6 in. diameter, build, mount and caliber rating, so you're choosing on size.
| Length | Weight | Best for | |
|---|---|---|---|
| EDS-30K | 5.25 in. | 10.3 oz | 300 BLK SBRs, short .308 rifles |
| EDS-30S | 6.625 in. | 13.5 oz | One can moved between rifles |
| EDS-30L | 7.875 in. | 17 oz | Bolt-action .308 and hunting rifles |
| EDS-30XL | 9 in. | 20.2 oz | The most suppression on a bolt gun |
Weights are without the mount; the included 5/8x24 direct thread mount adds 1.3 oz and .25 in.
Magco EDS-30K
The EDS-30K is the shortest EDS-30: 5.25 in. and 10.3 oz of welded 17-4 stainless.
Calibers: 5.56, .308, 300 BLK, 300 Win Mag | Length: 5.25 in. | Weight: 10.3 oz without mount | Diameter: 1.6 in. | Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread mount included | Full-auto: Yes
It's rated down to a 5 in. barrel with subsonic 300 BLK and 7 in. with supersonic, so it lines up well with a compact 300 BLK SBR. The same can moves over to a .308 or a 300 Win Mag rifle on a longer barrel. On 300 Win Mag, the K needs at least a 22 in. barrel; the S, L and XL need 20 in.

Magco EDS-30S
The EDS-30S is the middle of the line: 6.625 in. and 13.5 oz.
Calibers: 5.56, .308, 300 BLK, 300 Win Mag | Length: 6.625 in. | Weight: 13.5 oz without mount | Diameter: 1.6 in. | Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread mount included | Full-auto: Yes
It's short enough to keep a rifle handy, with more room inside than the K for sound reduction, which makes it a good pick for the one can you move between rifles. The HUB rear helps there, since the HUB mounts you already own will fit it.
EDS-30S or K? The S is 1.375 in. longer and 3.2 oz heavier, with more volume inside. Pick the K for a 300 BLK SBR and the S if it'll spend more time on a .308.

Magco EDS-30L
The EDS-30L is the one PEW Science tested: 7.875 in. and 17 oz, with a 53.3 Suppression Rating on a 20 in. .308 bolt gun.
Calibers: 5.56, .308, 300 BLK, 300 Win Mag | Length: 7.875 in. | Weight: 17 oz without mount | Diameter: 1.6 in. | Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread mount included | Full-auto: Yes
PEW Science tested it on a Savage Model 10 Precision Carbine with Federal XM80 149 gr, on the included direct thread mount, which brings it to 8 in. long. On that rifle it rated within half a point of the CAT JL and Liberty Precision Mach-L, both titanium cans (see How Magco Compares).
It's built for bolt guns: a precision rifle, or a hunting rifle in .308 or 300 Win Mag. Its back pressure is high, which a bolt gun doesn't care about.
What reviewers found
PEW Science, March 2026: Rated it 53.3 on a 20 in. .308 bolt gun and found it "outperforms some silencers that are 25% longer." SSS.6.219

Magco EDS-30XL
The EDS-30XL is the longest EDS-30: 9 in. and 20.2 oz, for shooters who want the most suppression and don't mind the extra length.
Calibers: 5.56, .308, 300 BLK, 300 Win Mag | Length: 9 in. | Weight: 20.2 oz without mount | Diameter: 1.6 in. | Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread mount included | Full-auto: Yes
At 9 in. and 20.2 oz, it makes more sense on a full-size bolt-action rifle than on a carbine. Like the rest of the line, it's all 17-4 stainless, which makes it heavier than a comparable titanium can.
EDS-30XL or L? The XL is 1.125 in. longer and 3.2 oz heavier. The L is the tested can, and the better fit if you want to keep the rifle shorter.
EDS-30 minimum barrel lengths
| Caliber | Minimum barrel |
|---|---|
| 300 BLK, subsonic | 5 in. |
| 300 BLK, supersonic | 7 in. |
| 5.56 | 10.5 in. |
| .308 | 14.5 in. |
| 300 Win Mag | 20 in. (22 in. on the EDS-30K) |
Magco Canned Ham Suppressors: Canned Ham K, S and L
The Canned Ham is Magco's .36 cal line. It comes in the same K, S and L sizes as the EDS-30, with the same welded 17-4 stainless build, the same baffle design, a HUB rear and a 5/8x24 direct thread mount in the box. Every Canned Ham is full-auto rated.
The larger bore lets one suppressor cover a 9mm carbine, a .357 Magnum lever gun and a .338 bolt gun, but it gives up some sound performance on the smaller calibers compared with a dedicated can. For 5.56, .308 and 300 BLK, the EDS-30 is the rated can.
| Length | Weight | |
|---|---|---|
| Canned Ham K | 5.25 in. | 10.3 oz |
| Canned Ham S | 6.625 in. | 13.5 oz |
| Canned Ham L | 7.875 in. | 16.9 oz |
Weights are without the mount.
| Caliber | Minimum barrel |
|---|---|
| 9mm | No minimum |
| .38 Special | No minimum |
| .357 Magnum | 6 in. |
| .338 ARC and 8.6 BLK | No minimum on a bolt gun, 10 in. on a gas gun |
| .338 Lapua | 24 in. |
How Magco Compares
The tables below compare the Magco suppressors we carry with similarly sized .30 cal cans from other brands. Lengths and weights are without the mount.
EDS-30L vs. other .30 cal suppressors PEW Science tested on the same rifle
Every rating below comes from PEW Science's 20 in. Savage Model 10 .308 with Federal XM80, so the numbers compare directly. The higher the rating, the better the result.
| Length | Weight | Material | PEW Science rating | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Magco EDS-30L | 7.875 in. | 17 oz | 17-4 stainless | 53.3 (SSS.6.219) |
| PTR VENT 1 | 8.74 in. | 12.3 oz | 3D printed titanium | 57.3 (SSS.6.160) |
| CAT JL | 8.2 in. | 13.2 oz | Titanium | 53.8 with its 2-port brake mount (SSS.6.147) |
| Liberty Precision Mach-L | 9.1 in. | 11.9 oz | Titanium | 53.5 (SSS.6.163) |
| Dead Air Nomad-L | 8.39 in. | 18.3 oz | Stainless steel and titanium | 52.0 (SSS.6.55) |
| Diligent Defense Enticer L-Ti | 8.25 in. | 10.5 oz | Titanium | 51.9 (SSS.6.67) |
| Resilient Jolene | 9.125 in. | 10.7 oz | Titanium | 50.4 (SSS.6.137) |
| Otter Creek Labs Hydrogen-L | 9 in. | 12.4 oz | Titanium | 49.8 (SSS.6.81) |
| Liberty Precision Anthem-S2 | 6.85 in. | 14.2 oz | 17-4 stainless | 46.9 with its QD coupler and brake (SSS.6.170) |
The EDS-30L is the shortest can in the table except the Anthem-S2, and it rates within half a point of the CAT JL and Liberty Precision Mach-L. It's ahead of the Dead Air Nomad-L, Diligent Defense Enticer L-Ti, Resilient Jolene and Otter Creek Labs Hydrogen-L, and behind the PTR VENT 1. The trade is weight: at 17 oz it's heavier than every titanium can here, and a little lighter than the steel and titanium Nomad-L. See the PTR VENT, CAT, Liberty Precision, Dead Air, Diligent Defense, Resilient and Otter Creek Labs buying guides for those cans.
EDS-30K and EDS-30S vs. other short .30 cal suppressors
| Length | Weight | Material | Full-auto | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Magco EDS-30K | 5.25 in. | 10.3 oz | 17-4 stainless | Yes |
| Magco EDS-30S | 6.625 in. | 13.5 oz | 17-4 stainless | Yes |
| YHM Resonator K | 4.8 in. | 9.6 oz | Cobalt 6, 17-4 stainless | Yes |
| Liberty Precision Anthem-K2 | 5.5 in. | 11.8 oz | 17-4 stainless | Yes |
| Otter Creek Labs Polonium 30 | 5.8 in. | 13.5 oz | 17-4 stainless | Yes |
| BOSS Chairman K | 6 in. | 12 oz | 17-4 stainless, titanium tube | Yes |
| SOS Dark Matter K | 6.375 in. | 14 oz | 17-4 stainless | Yes |
| Diligent Defense Enticer S | 6.75 in. | 13.8 oz | 17-4 stainless | No |
All of these have a HUB rear. The EDS-30K is the second shortest and second lightest here, behind only the YHM Resonator K. The EDS-30S lands in the middle, about the weight of the Polonium 30 and Enticer S. See the YHM, Liberty Precision, Otter Creek Labs, BOSS, SOS and Diligent Defense buying guides for those cans.
Magco Mounts
Every Magco has a HUB (1.375x24) rear and comes with a 17-4 stainless 5/8x24 direct thread mount that weighs 1.3 oz and adds .25 in. of length, so it's ready to thread onto a 5/8x24 .308 or 300 BLK barrel out of the box.
- 5.56 rifles: most are threaded 1/2x28, so you'll need a 1/2x28 HUB direct thread mount. The Diligent Defense Ti Direct Thread Adapter is a light titanium option.
- Other thread pitches: several HUB direct-thread options are available. The SilencerCo Bravo Direct Thread Mount and the Dead Air direct thread mounts come in about ten thread pitches each, and both fit the HUB rear on a Magco.
- Quick-detach: a HUB adapter like the Plan-B by Q lets you move a Magco between rifles with Plan B muzzle devices.
- Stuck mounts: direct thread mounts can seize after enough heat cycles. The welded end cap's 3/8 in. hex gives you a place to put a wrench and break it loose.
Shop all HUB mounts, or see our thread pitch chart.

Magco Suppressor FAQ
Who makes Magco suppressors?
Magco Arms, a suppressor maker in La Cygne, Kansas. Its roots are in more than 20 years of building food and pharmaceutical equipment, and it builds its suppressors in house. The EDS-30 is its .30 cal line, and the Canned Ham is its .36 cal line.
Is Magco a good suppressor brand?
Magco is new to suppressors, and PEW Science has tested the EDS-30L. On a 20 in. .308 bolt gun, the EDS-30L earned a Suppression Rating of 53.3, and PEW Science said it "produces the highest suppression on the tested weapon system in the 8-in long size class by a significant margin" (SSS.6.219). Every Magco is 17-4 stainless heat treated to H900, laser welded and full-auto rated.
Which Magco suppressor is the quietest?
In the EDS-30 line, length buys suppression. The EDS-30XL is the longest at 9 in. and is built for the most suppression. The EDS-30L is the one PEW Science has tested, with a 53.3 Suppression Rating on a 20 in. .308. If you want something short, the EDS-30K gives up some sound for 3.75 in. less length than the XL.
What is the PEW Science rating for the Magco EDS-30L?
53.3. PEW Science tested it on a Savage Model 10 Precision Carbine in .308 with a 20 in. barrel and Federal XM80 149 gr, using the included direct thread mount (SSS.6.219, March 2026). That puts it within half a point of the CAT JL and Liberty Precision Mach-L on the same rifle. See How Magco Compares.
What's the difference between the EDS-30K, EDS-30S, EDS-30L and EDS-30XL?
Length and weight. All four are 1.6 in. wide, 17-4 stainless, full-auto rated and rated for 5.56 through 300 Win Mag. The EDS-30K is 5.25 in. and 10.3 oz, the EDS-30S is 6.625 in. and 13.5 oz, the EDS-30L is 7.875 in. and 17 oz, and the EDS-30XL is 9 in. and 20.2 oz, all without the mount. The one other difference: the K needs a 22 in. barrel on 300 Win Mag, and the rest need 20 in.
Are Magco suppressors full-auto rated?
Yes. Every EDS-30 and every Canned Ham is full-auto rated.
Is the Magco EDS-30L good on an AR-10?
It's rated for .308, so it will run on one, but it's at its best on a bolt gun. PEW Science describes its back pressure as significant and says it's intended for bolt-action rifles. On an AR-10, a high back pressure can sends more gas back toward your face. For a bolt-action precision or hunting rifle, that doesn't matter.
Can I use a Magco EDS-30 on a 5.56 rifle?
Yes. Every EDS-30 is rated for 5.56 on a 10.5 in. or longer barrel. Most 5.56 rifles are threaded 1/2x28, and the included mount is 5/8x24, so add a 1/2x28 HUB direct thread mount like the Diligent Defense Ti Direct Thread Adapter.
Is the Magco EDS-30K good for 300 Blackout?
Yes. The EDS-30K is rated down to a 5 in. barrel with subsonic 300 BLK and 7 in. with supersonic, so it fits a compact 300 BLK SBR. At 5.25 in. and 10.3 oz, it's the shortest and lightest EDS-30.
What barrel length do I need for a Magco EDS-30?
5 in. for subsonic 300 BLK, 7 in. for supersonic 300 BLK, 10.5 in. for 5.56, 14.5 in. for .308 and 20 in. for 300 Win Mag (22 in. on the EDS-30K).
What mount comes with a Magco suppressor?
Every Magco comes with a 17-4 stainless 5/8x24 direct thread mount. It weighs 1.3 oz and adds .25 in. of length. The rear of the suppressor is HUB (1.375x24), so it also takes any HUB mount. See Mounts.
Can you take apart a Magco suppressor?
No. Every Magco is laser welded, with no threaded joints in the body, so it can't be taken apart. The welded end cap has a 3/8 in. hex, which gives you a place to put a wrench if a mount ever seizes.
What finishes do Magco suppressors come in?
The EDS-30K, EDS-30S and EDS-30L come in Raw, Brushed and Black Cerakote, and the EDS-30XL comes in Raw and Black Cerakote.
What is the Magco Canned Ham?
The Canned Ham is Magco's .36 cal line, in the same K, S and L sizes as the EDS-30, with the same welded 17-4 stainless build and baffle design. It's rated for 9mm, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .338 ARC, 8.6 BLK and .338 Lapua. See Canned Ham.
Magco EDS-30L vs. Dead Air Nomad-L: which should I buy?
On the same 20 in. .308 bolt gun, PEW Science rated the EDS-30L 53.3 and the Dead Air Nomad-L 52.0. The EDS-30L is 7.875 in. and 17 oz in 17-4 stainless; the Nomad-L is 8.39 in. and 18.3 oz in stainless steel and titanium. Both are full-auto rated. On those PEW Science results, the EDS-30L is shorter, a little lighter and rated a little higher.
Do Magco suppressors have a warranty?
Yes. Every Magco suppressor has a lifetime limited warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship, and it transfers with the suppressor, should you sell it down the road.
