MAGCO ARMS EDS-30XL SUPPRESSOR - FULL-SIZE FULL-AUTO RATED .30 CALIBER SILENCER

The Magco Arms EDS-30XL is a full-size, full-auto rated .30 caliber rifle suppressor machined from 17-4 stainless steel and heat treated to H900. It's the longest model in Magco's EDS line, measuring 9" long and weighing 20.2 oz without a mount, with a 1.6" diameter. Every unit is laser welded around Magco's patent-pending design. Magco rates the EDS-30XL for 5.56 NATO, .308 Winchester, 300 BLK, and 300 Win Mag, so a single silencer can serve AR-15 calibers as well as full-power .30 caliber rifles.

Mounting runs through a HUB (1.375x24) interface at the rear of the can, which accepts HUB-compatible mounts from a wide range of manufacturers. Included in the box is a 17-4 stainless steel 5/8x24 direct-thread mount that weighs 1.3 oz and adds .25" of length. For the day a HUB mount refuses to come off, the welded end cap has a 3/8" hex interface you can put a wrench on.

Magco lists a 5" minimum barrel length for subsonic 300 BLK and 7" for supersonic, so the EDS-30XL can mount on 300 BLK short barrel rifles, and 300 Win Mag requires a barrel of at least 20". Shorter options in Magco Arms' EDS line include the EDS-30K, EDS-30S, and EDS-30L.

CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION

The EDS-30XL is the big one in the EDS lineup, and that's the whole idea. At 9" long and 1.6" wide without a mount, it's a long can, so it's best for shooters who want maximum suppression and don't mind a bit of extra length and width on the end of their rifle.

We also like how Magco built it. Plenty of suppressors keep their weight down by mixing multiple materials into the build. The EDS-30XL sticks with laser-welded 17-4 stainless steel heat treated to H900, so it's heavier, but it's also simpler, with one material, one heat treatment, and fewer places for things to go wrong after a lot of rounds. The 3/8" hex on the welded end cap deserves a shout too. Direct-thread mounts can seize after enough heat cycles, and having a built-in way to break one loose beats waiting on a replacement. Add HUB as an open mounting standard, and you can keep using the HUB mounts you already own.

If you still want strong suppression but would rather lose a little length, check out the EDS-30L. And if you're after a balance between size and suppression, the EDS-30S is a great fit.
