BOSS Suppressor Buying Guide
BOSS (Black Ops Suppression Systems) builds suppressors in Stafford, Virginia, and every one has a titanium tube. We carry the Guillotine 556, Chairman K, Chairman Ti-K, Commander K and Top Shot, and we can get the rest of the BOSS lineup for you. The guide below shows how they compare and where each one fits.
How to Choose a BOSS Suppressor
Start with the caliber. BOSS names each line by what it's built for, and a K after the name means the shorter 6 in. version. Then pick the end cap that matches your action.
A few things to know
- Names: Guillotine is 5.56. Chairman is .30 cal. Commander is 9mm. Top Shot is the 6.5mm PRS can. Camacho is .338 and 8.6 BLK. Executive is .458. El Jefe is rimfire. Ti means titanium baffles.
- Materials: every BOSS has a Grade 9 titanium tube. The stainless models use 3D-printed 17-4 H900 stainless baffles. The titanium models use machined Grade 5 titanium baffles, and the blast baffle is always hardened 17-4 stainless.
- Two baffle designs: most BOSS cans use Tesla-valve-inspired baffles that make the gas take a longer route out. The Commander line and Executive 46 use what BOSS calls Jet Diffusion Technology, built for low back pressure and subsonic ammo.
- Mounts: every centerfire BOSS has a HUB (1.375x24) rear and ships with a direct thread mount. See End caps and mounts.
- End caps: BOSS makes a standard cap for bolt guns and piston rifles, a vented cap for AR-15s and other gas-impingement rifles, and brake caps for muzzle control.
- Ratings: BOSS rates every model for full-auto, and it lists no barrel-length restrictions on the Guillotine, Chairman, Commander, Camacho and Executive lines.
Choosing by configuration
- 5.56 AR-15: the Guillotine 556, 6 in. and 12 oz, with a PEW Science rating of 32.0 on a MK18.
- Short .30 cal or subsonic 300 BLK: the 6 in. Chairman K. For less weight, the titanium Chairman Ti-K at 8.9 oz.
- Most suppression on .30 cal: the 8 in. Chairman, rated 43.5 by PEW Science on a 20 in. .308.
- 9mm PCC: the 6 in. titanium Commander K. For the most suppression, the 8 in. Commander 9. For SMGs and CQB, the 5.5 in. Commander SWAT.
- PRS: the Top Shot, built for 6.5mm with a brake end cap for muzzle control.
- .338 and 8.6 BLK: the Camacho 338. .458 SOCOM: the Executive 46 or the shorter Executive K. Rimfire: the El Jefe .22.

What BOSS Silencers Is Known For
BOSS, short for Black Ops Suppression Systems, is a licensed suppressor manufacturer in Stafford, Virginia, founded in 2022. It designs, machines and finishes its suppressors in house. Owner Michael Cain is an electrical engineer who worked as a Department of Defense civilian. Jeb and Ward Burton, a Virginia racing family, have also bought into the company. Jeb races the No. 27 in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.
- Value: BOSS makes some of the most economical suppressors we carry.
- Titanium tube on every model: even the stainless cans use a Grade 9 titanium tube, so they come out light for their size.
- Tesla-valve-inspired baffles: a Tesla valve resists flow in one direction using only its shape. BOSS's baffles use the same idea to send gas on a longer, less direct route out of the suppressor, which gives it more time to cool and slow down.
- Jet Diffusion Technology: the Commander line and Executive 46 work like a rocket nozzle in reverse. They take in fast-moving gas and slow it down through a series of diffusion chambers. BOSS calls these its low back pressure designs.
- Independent testing: PEW Science has tested the Guillotine (SSS.6.133) and the Chairman (SSS.6.132), and BOSS cans were tested at TBAC's 2025 Silencer Summit.
- Warranty: BOSS backs its suppressors with a limited lifetime warranty.
BOSS Guillotine 556
BOSS Guillotine 556
The Guillotine 556 is BOSS's 5.56 suppressor: 6 in. long, 1.5 in. wide and 12 oz without a mount, with a 3D-printed, nitrided 17-4 H900 stainless baffle core inside a titanium tube.
Caliber: 5.56 | Length: 6 in. | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 12 oz without mount | Mount: HUB, 1/2x28 direct thread included | Full-auto: Yes | Barrels: No restrictions listed by BOSS
It's light enough that it won't throw off a short AR-15 or a light 5.56 hunting rifle.
End cap: ours ships with BOSS's standard end cap. BOSS recommends its vented end cap for AR-15s and other gas-impingement rifles to cut back pressure and gas, and it sells the vented cap separately. Call us at 512-879-1068 if you want one.
Test results
PEW Science (SSS.6.133): Rated it 32.0 on a 10.3 in. MK18 with Federal XM193, and called it "competitive suppression performance in its size class, in a lightweight envelope." PEW Science found its overall suppression on par with the Otter Creek Labs Polonium-K and SilencerCo Saker 556, and better than both at the shooter's ear.
BOSS Chairman Suppressors: Chairman K, Ti-K and Chairman
The Chairman line is BOSS's .30 cal family for .308, 7.62 and 300 BLK. All three are 1.5 in. wide, full-auto rated and ship with a 5/8x24 direct thread mount.
| Length | Weight (no mount) | Baffles | Status | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chairman K | 6 in. | 12 oz | 17-4 H900 stainless | We carry it |
| Chairman Ti-K | 6 in. | 8.9 oz | Grade 5 titanium, stainless blast baffle | We carry it |
| Chairman | 8 in. | 16 oz stainless; 11.5 oz titanium | Stainless or titanium | By pre-order |
BOSS Chairman K
The Chairman K is the short Chairman: 6 in. long and 12 oz without a mount, with 17-4 H900 stainless baffles, mount and end cap inside a titanium tube.
Calibers: .308, 7.62, 300 BLK | Length: 6 in. | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 12 oz without mount | Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread included | Full-auto: Yes | Barrels: No restrictions listed by BOSS
BOSS positions the K for short rifles and subsonic 300 BLK, where keeping overall length down matters. It's also a dedicated .30 cal can for a .308 host, 2 in. shorter than the full Chairman.
Ours ships with BOSS's standard end cap, which BOSS designates for bolt guns and piston rifles.
BOSS Chairman Ti-K
The Chairman Ti-K is the titanium Chairman K: the same 6 in. length at 8.9 oz without a mount, about 3 oz lighter than the stainless version.
Calibers: .308, 7.62, 300 BLK | Length: 6 in. | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 8.9 oz without mount | Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread included | Full-auto: Yes | Barrels: No restrictions listed by BOSS
It uses Grade 5 titanium baffles, mount and cap, with a hardened 17-4 stainless blast baffle. Pick it for a hunting rifle you carry or an SBR you want to keep light.
Ti-K or K? Same length and same design. The Ti-K saves about 3 oz over the stainless Chairman K.
BOSS Chairman
The Chairman is BOSS's 8 in. .30 cal flagship, in stainless (16 oz) or titanium (11.5 oz).
Calibers: .308, 7.62, 300 BLK | Length: 8 in. | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 16 oz stainless; 11.5 oz titanium | Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread included | Full-auto: Yes
Pick it over the K when suppression matters more than length. For AR-10s and other gas-impingement rifles, BOSS recommends the vented end cap; bolt guns should use the standard cap.
Test results
PEW Science (SSS.6.132): Rated the stainless Chairman 43.5 on a 20 in. Savage Model 10 .308 with Federal XM80. PEW Science found its overall signature on par with the Rugged Surge in its long configuration, while the Chairman is about an inch shorter.
2025 Silencer Summit: The titanium Chairman finished 16th of 70 suppressors on the 20 in. .308 bolt gun and 21st of 85 on subsonic 300 BLK in a 16 in. bolt gun.
Available by pre-order: Call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. We'll guarantee you one from the next shipment.
BOSS Commander Suppressors: Commander K, Commander 9 and SWAT
The Commander line uses BOSS's Jet Diffusion Technology and is optimized for subsonic 9mm. All three are full-auto rated, ship with a 1/2x28 direct thread mount and have a HUB rear.
BOSS Commander K
The Commander K is BOSS's 6 in. titanium 9mm suppressor: 7 oz without a mount, built for pistol caliber carbines and subguns.
Caliber: 9mm | Length: 6 in. | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 7 oz without mount | Mount: HUB, 1/2x28 direct thread included | Full-auto: Yes | Barrels: No restrictions listed by BOSS
It uses a Grade 9 titanium tube and a 6Al4V titanium baffle stack. If subsonic 9mm on a PCC is what you shoot most, that's the load BOSS optimized it for.
The HUB rear means it also takes HUB pistol mounts and boosters if you want to move it to a handgun.
BOSS Commander 9
The Commander 9 is the full-size Commander: 8 in. and 11.5 oz of titanium, built for maximum suppression across 9mm platforms.
Caliber: 9mm | Length: 8 in. | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 11.5 oz without mount | Material: Titanium | Full-auto: Yes
Commander 9 or K? The 9 is 2 in. longer and 4.5 oz heavier. Pick it when quiet matters more than length.
Test results
2025 Silencer Summit: The titanium Commander finished 2nd of 21 suppressors on the 9mm pistol host, a Canik METE SFX shooting Ammo Inc Stelth 165 gr.
Available by pre-order: Call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. We'll guarantee you one from the next shipment.
BOSS Commander SWAT
The Commander SWAT is BOSS's short CQB can: 5.5 in. and 14 oz, with stainless baffles in a titanium tube.
Caliber: 9mm | Length: 5.5 in. | Diameter: 1.75 in. | Weight: 14 oz without mount | Material: Stainless baffles, titanium tube | Full-auto: Yes
BOSS built it for SMGs and PCCs, says it has minimal first-round pop and fits a range of 3-lug adapters. BOSS says it's not suitable for handguns.
Test results
Recoil, April 2025: Ran it for over 1,000 rounds on a Springfield Armory KUNA, including a full CQB match, and called it "one of the greats." Read the review
Available by pre-order: Call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. We'll guarantee you one from the next shipment.
BOSS Top Shot
BOSS Top Shot
The Top Shot is BOSS's 6.5mm PRS competition suppressor, built to balance muzzle control and suppression so you can see your hits and stay on target.
Caliber: 6.5mm | Length: 6.15 in. with brake end cap | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 12.3 oz without mount | Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread included | Full-auto: Yes
The brake end cap sends the leftover gas into brake chambers to tame recoil, especially when shooting positional. BOSS's PRS team shooters tested and proved it, and BOSS only makes it in stainless to handle heat between stages.
BOSS also offers it with a Recoil X brake (6.75 in., 12.7 oz). Call us at 512-879-1068 if you want that version.
BOSS Camacho, Executive and El Jefe
These cover the big-bore and rimfire ends of the BOSS lineup. We get all four by pre-order: Call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. We'll guarantee you one from the next shipment.
BOSS Camacho 338
The Camacho is BOSS's .338 and 8.6 BLK suppressor: 9.5 in., 1.75 in. wide and 16.5 oz of titanium.
Calibers: .338, 8.6 BLK | Length: 9.5 in. | Diameter: 1.75 in. | Weight: 16.5 oz without mount | Material: Titanium | Full-auto: Yes
BOSS built it for maximum sound reduction. It's designed for .338 and 8.6 BLK, and BOSS says it can run anything that fits its bore, from 9mm up to .375 CheyTac. It ships with a 5/8x24 direct thread mount.
BOSS Executive 46
The Executive 46 is BOSS's 8 in. titanium .458 suppressor, built on Jet Diffusion Technology.
Caliber: .458 | Length: 8 in. | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 11.5 oz without mount | Material: Titanium | Full-auto: Yes
BOSS optimized it for subsonic ammo with low back pressure. It ships with your choice of 1/2x28, 5/8x24 or 3/4x24 direct thread mount.
BOSS Executive K
The Executive K is the 6 in. version: 8.6 oz of titanium, rated up to .458 SOCOM.
Caliber: Up to .458 SOCOM | Length: 6 in. | Diameter: 1.5 in. | Weight: 8.6 oz without mount | Material: Titanium | Full-auto: Yes
BOSS tuned it for both subsonic and supersonic ammo, for pistols, short rifles or anywhere you need a shorter can.
BOSS El Jefe .22
The El Jefe is BOSS's rimfire can: 5 in., 1 in. wide and 5.2 oz complete.
Calibers: .22 LR, .22 WMR, .17 HMR, 5.7x28 | Length: 5 in. | Diameter: 1 in. | Weight: 5.2 oz | Material: Stainless baffles, titanium tube | Full-auto: Yes
It comes apart completely for cleaning, which matters with dirty .22 LR. It ships with a 1/2x28 direct thread mount.

BOSS End Caps and Mounts
Every centerfire BOSS has a HUB (1.375x24) rear and ships with a BOSS direct thread mount, so it's ready to thread onto your barrel. Because the rear is HUB, it also takes any HUB direct thread mount or HUB adapter.

- Brake end caps: the BOSS brake and Recoil X brake trade some suppression for more muzzle control.
- Other mounts: a HUB adapter like the Plan-B by Q lets you move a BOSS between rifles with Plan B muzzle devices. For another direct thread option, the Diligent Defense Ti Direct Thread Adapter comes in 1/2x28 and 5/8x24.
