Ridgeback Defense Suppressor Buying Guide

Ridgeback Defense makes 3D-printed suppressors in Kentucky, and its Rhodie 6 is one of the most sought-after 5.56 suppressors of 2026. We carry the Rhodie 6, Rhodie 6K and Rhino X, and we can get the rest of the Ridgeback lineup for you. The guide below shows how they compare and where each one fits.

Where to start

How to Choose a Ridgeback Defense Suppressor

Start with the gun. Most Ridgebacks are built for 5.56 and 6mm AR-15s from 10.3 to 16 in., so the real choice is how short you want the suppressor and what it's made of. Ridgeback also makes .30 cal, 300 BLK and 9mm suppressors.

A few things to know

  • Names: Rhodie is the 5.56 and 6mm line built for low back pressure. Rhino is the 5.56 line built for hard use. Sahara covers 300 BLK and .30 cal, and Mamba is the 9mm PCC line. K means shorter, Ti means titanium, and the Rhodie 6J is the Haynes 282 version of the 6K.
  • Materials: every Ridgeback is 3D printed (DMLS). The Rhino X, Rhodie 6 and Rhodie 6K are Inconel. The Rhodie 6Ti, Rhino S, Sahara and Mamba are titanium, and the Rhodie 6J is Haynes 282.
  • Mounts: every Ridgeback has a HUB (1.375x24) rear, and mounts are sold separately. See Mounts for what fits.
  • Muzzle device depth: each model has a maximum depth for the muzzle device, meaning how far it sits inside the suppressor, not the device's total length. It's 1.2 in. on the Rhodie 6K and 6J, 1.5 in. on the Rhodie 6 and 6Ti, and 1.7 in. on the Rhino X, Rhino S and Sahara 300.
  • Sound numbers: the dB figures in this guide are Ridgeback's own. PEW Science hasn't tested a Ridgeback yet, but the Rhodie is one of the most talked-about 5.56 suppressors of 2026, along with the Exigent FireTeam556 and Stealth Additive Works Tisha, and early shooter and reviewer feedback has been positive.

Choosing by configuration

  • Quietest 5.56 or 6mm in the Inconel line: the Rhodie 6, 5.5 in. and rated at 132 dB.
  • Shortest: the Rhodie 6K, 4.5 in. and 12.5 oz.
  • Shortest for barrels under 10.3 in.: the Rhodie 6J, rated down to 7.5 in. barrels.
  • Lightest 5.56: the titanium Rhodie 6Ti or Rhino S, both about 9.5 oz.
  • Hard use and full-auto: the Rhino X, the lowest-priced Ridgeback we carry.
  • 300 BLK: the Sahara 300, built for subsonic 300 BLK. For 7.62x39 and .308, the Sahara 762.
  • 9mm PCC: the Mamba 9 or the shorter Mamba 9K.

Ridgeback also lists a .22, the Mantis 22, as coming soon.

If the Ridgeback you want is out of stock, sign up for the back-in-stock email on its product page, or call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. We'll guarantee you one from the next shipment.

Why Ridgeback

What Ridgeback Defense Is Known For

Ridgeback Defense is a Kentucky suppressor maker started by four partners with backgrounds in law enforcement, backcountry hunting, military-grade machining and performance design. It's a new name: the Rhino X came out in mid-2025, and the Rhodie 6 followed at the end of 2025.

  • OppFlow: Ridgeback's gas management system sends high-pressure gas from the blast chamber back against the gas moving through the baffle stack. Ridgeback says it reduces back pressure, eliminates first-round pop and gives a deeper, cleaner tone.
  • 3D printed: every Ridgeback is built by direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) in Inconel, titanium or Haynes 282.
  • Low back pressure: Ridgeback rates the Rhodie 6 as the lowest back pressure in its lineup, and the Rhodie 6K and 6J as very low.
  • Demand: the Rhodie 6 is one of the most sought-after 5.56 suppressors of 2026.
5.56 and 6mm

Ridgeback Rhodie Suppressors: Rhodie 6, 6K, 6J and 6Ti

All four Rhodies are 1.75 in. wide, rated for 5.56 and 6mm, and built for low back pressure with a deep tone. The differences are length, material and how short a barrel they can run on.

Ridgeback Defense Rhodie 6

The Rhodie 6 is Ridgeback's 5.5 in. Inconel suppressor for 5.56 and 6mm, rated at 132 dB with the lowest back pressure in the Ridgeback lineup.

Calibers: 5.56, 6mm  |  Length: 5.5 in.  |  Diameter: 1.75 in.  |  Weight: 15.5 to 16 oz  |  Mount: HUB, sold separately  |  Full-auto: Yes  |  Barrels: 10.3 in. and up

Ridgeback rates its tone as deep and smooth and its flash as minimal. One can covers your 5.56 SBR or carbine and your 6mm build.

Rhodie 6 or 6K? The Rhodie 6 is an inch longer and about 3 to 3.5 oz heavier, and it's quieter: 132 dB against the 6K's 136 to 138. Pick the 6 if sound matters more than length; pick the Rhodie 6K if you want the shortest can on an SBR.

Owner and reviewer feedback

Richard, Rhodie 6 owner: "The rhodie 6 is great on gas and sound reduction."

Giancarlo, Rhodie 6 owner: "Excellent sound suppression and tone."

Stephen, Rhodie 6 owner: "They have the look, the flash mitigation and the sound profile you want."

Silencer Analytics, May 2026: Used the Rhodie 6 as a baseline in a head-to-head test because of its reputation as "one of the strongest-performing .223 suppressors currently available." Watch the video

Silencer Analytics, September 2026: Called the Rhodie 6 "one of my favorite compact 5.56 suppressors." Watch the video

Ridgeback Defense Rhodie 6K

The Rhodie 6K is the short Rhodie: 4.5 in. and 12.5 oz of Inconel, one inch shorter than the Rhodie 6, with the same gas management system.

Calibers: 5.56, 6mm  |  Length: 4.5 in.  |  Diameter: 1.75 in.  |  Weight: 12.5 oz  |  Mount: HUB, sold separately  |  Full-auto: 6 mags in 1 minute  |  Barrels: 10.3 in. and up

It's rated at 136 to 138 dB on a 5-shot average from a SOLGW MK1, with very low back pressure. Its muzzle device limit is 1.2 in., the tightest in the Rhodie line along with the 6J, so check your muzzle device before you buy (see Mounts).

Ridgeback built it for SBRs, duty rifles and hard-use carbines, where keeping overall length down matters.

Owner and reviewer feedback

Silencer Analytics, October 2026: In a mostly blind listening test on matched 11.5 in. rifles with M855, with the Stealth Additive Works Tisha as the baseline, said the Rhodie 6K and Rhodie 6 Titanium "get extremely close to the TISHA." Watch the video

Ridgeback Defense Rhodie 6J

The Rhodie 6J is the Haynes 282 version of the Rhodie 6K: the same 4.5 in. length and internal geometry, rated for barrels as short as 7.5 in. Ridgeback developed it with Juicey Media.

Calibers: 5.56, 6mm  |  Length: 4.5 in.  |  Diameter: 1.75 in.  |  Weight: 13.5 oz  |  Material: Haynes 282  |  Full-auto: Yes  |  Barrels: 7.5 in. and up

It's rated at 136 dB on a 5-shot average from an 11.5 in. SOLGW MK1, with very low back pressure. Its muzzle device limit is 1.2 in., the same as the 6K.

Haynes 282 is a nickel superalloy designed for high heat. Ridgeback recommends it for high-velocity 5.56 and 6mm and aggressive full-auto strings.

6J or 6K? Same length. The 6J is 1 oz heavier and runs on barrels down to 7.5 in.; the 6K needs 10.3 in. or longer.

Available by pre-order: Call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. We'll guarantee you one from the next shipment.

Ridgeback Defense Rhodie 6Ti

The Rhodie 6Ti is the titanium Rhodie 6: the same 5.5 in. length at 9.5 to 10 oz, about 6 oz lighter than the Inconel version.

Calibers: 5.56, 6mm  |  Length: 5.5 in.  |  Diameter: 1.75 in.  |  Weight: 9.5 to 10 oz  |  Material: Titanium  |  Full-auto: 3 mags max, then let it cool  |  Barrels: 10.3 to 16 in.

It's rated as low as 130 dB on a 12.5 in. rifle. The trade for the weight savings is heat: titanium is rated for 3 magazines of full-auto before it needs to cool, and it shows mild sparking.

6Ti or 6? Pick the 6Ti for a light carry rifle or a hunting AR, and the Inconel Rhodie 6 if you shoot fast and often.

Owner and reviewer feedback

BW, Rhodie 6 Ti owner: "The most quiet 5.56 suppressor I own, excellent tone."

Silencer Analytics, August 2026: Said the Rhodie 6 Titanium has become one of its benchmark 5.56 suppressors "because of its combination of extremely low weight and impressive sound performance." Watch the video

5.56 hard use

Ridgeback Rhino Suppressors: Rhino X and Rhino S

Ridgeback Defense Rhino X

The Rhino X is Ridgeback's 5 in. Inconel 5.56 suppressor built for hard use: high heat, high rates of fire and full-auto. Ridgeback calls it the most rugged suppressor in its lineup, and the X stands for Extreme.

Caliber: 5.56  |  Length: 5 in.  |  Diameter: 1.625 in.  |  Weight: 12.5 oz  |  Mount: HUB, sold separately  |  Full-auto: 6 mags in under 1 minute  |  Barrels: 10.3 in. and up

It's rated at 136 dB with a deep tone and low back pressure, and Ridgeback rates its flash reduction best in class. It's the slimmest Ridgeback 5.56 can at 1.625 in., and it takes the deepest muzzle devices, up to 1.7 in. Its best fit is a 10.3 to 16 in. barrel.

It's the lowest-priced Ridgeback we carry, and it's priced below other Inconel 5.56 suppressors like the Exigent FireTeam556, CAT WB and SureFire SOCOM556-MINI4.

Rhino X or Rhodie 6K? Same weight and the same full-auto rating. The 6K is half an inch shorter and covers 6mm. The Rhino X is slimmer, takes a deeper muzzle device and costs less.

What owners and reviewers found

Silencer Analytics, November 2025: Named the Rhino X and Rhino S among the standouts of the 193 suppressors it had tested. Watch the video

Shop the Ridgeback Defense Rhino X →

Ridgeback Defense Rhino S

The Rhino S is the titanium version of the Rhino X: 6 in. and 9.5 oz, rated at 132 dB average on 5.56.

Caliber: 5.56  |  Length: 6 in.  |  Diameter: 1.75 in.  |  Weight: 9.5 oz  |  Material: Titanium  |  Full-auto: 3 mags in under 1 minute  |  Barrels: 10.3 in. and up

It's 3 oz lighter and 4 dB quieter than the Rhino X on Ridgeback's numbers, and 1 in. longer. Like the Rhodie 6Ti, it trades some heat tolerance for weight: 3 magazines of full-auto, with mild sparking under full-auto.

Comparisons

How Ridgeback Compares

PEW Science hasn't tested a Ridgeback yet, so these comparisons stick to size, weight, material and mounting. Every can here is rated for 5.56.

Rhodie 6K vs. other short 5.56 suppressors

The Tisha is the shortest here, and the titanium version is the lightest. The Rhodie 6K and CAT KK are both 4.5 in.; the 6K is 2 oz lighter and uses the HUB rear instead of the KK's QD mount. The Rhodie 6K is priced below the Tisha 5.56 and CAT KK. The OCL Polonium K is priced below the rest and comes with a 1/2x28 direct thread mount. See the Stealth Additive Works, CAT and Otter Creek Labs buying guides for those cans.

Rhodie 6 vs. FireTeam556, CAT WB, Infinity 556K, Lazarus 6 and Flow 556k

Most of these are within a third of an inch of each other; the Lazarus 6 is the longest. The CAT WB is the shortest, and the HUXWRX Flow 556k is the lightest. The Rhodie 6 is heavier than all but the Lazarus 6, and it covers 6mm like the Infinity 556K and Lazarus 6. On price, the Rhodie 6 is close to the FireTeam556, a little above the Infinity 556K, and below the CAT WB, Lazarus 6 and Flow 556k. See the Exigent Defense, CAT, Otter Creek Labs, Dead Air and HUXWRX buying guides for those cans.

Mounts

Ridgeback Mounts and Muzzle Devices

Every Ridgeback has a HUB (1.375x24) rear, so it works with any HUB direct thread mount or HUB adapter. Mounts are sold separately. Ridgeback recommends a direct thread mount or a short Plan B setup, and each model has a limit on how deep the muzzle device can sit inside the suppressor.

ModelMount Ridgeback recommendsMax muzzle device depthMin barrel
Rhodie 6Short Plan B1.5 in.10.3 in.

Rhino SShort Plan B1.7 in.10.3 in.
Sahara 300Short Plan B1.7 in.4.5 in.
  • Direct thread: a HUB direct thread mount like the B&T Lightweight HUB Adapter (1/2x28 or 5/8x24) threads the suppressor straight onto your barrel. It's the simplest setup for one dedicated rifle.
  • Plan B: a Plan B adapter like the Plan-B by Q or the Energetic Armament Project E threads into the HUB rear and locks onto Plan B pattern muzzle devices, so you can move the suppressor between rifles.
  • Check the depth: depth means how far the muzzle device reaches into the suppressor, not its total length. Ridgeback notes that longer muzzle devices can hurt performance, so check yours against the table before you buy, or call us and we'll match one.

Shop all HUB mounts, or see our thread pitch chart.

FAQ

Ridgeback Defense FAQ

Is the Rhodie 6 HUB compatible?

Yes. Every Ridgeback, including the Rhodie 6, has a HUB (1.375x24) rear, so it takes any HUB direct thread mount or HUB adapter. No mount is included. See Mounts for options we carry.

Does the Rhodie 6 come with a mount?

No. Ridgeback leaves the mount out of every suppressor to keep the price down. For the Rhodie 6, Ridgeback recommends a short Plan B setup. A HUB direct thread mount also fits.

How long is the Rhodie 6K?

The Rhodie 6K is 4.5 in. long and 1.75 in. wide, one inch shorter than the Rhodie 6.

How much does the Rhodie 6K weigh?

The Rhodie 6K weighs 12.5 oz in Inconel. The Rhodie 6J, the Haynes 282 version, weighs 13.5 oz.

How much does the Rhodie 6 weigh?

The Inconel Rhodie 6 weighs 15.5 to 16 oz. The titanium Rhodie 6Ti weighs 9.5 to 10 oz.

Rhodie 6 vs. Rhodie 6K: what's the difference?

The Rhodie 6 is 5.5 in. and 15.5 to 16 oz, rated at 132 dB with the lowest back pressure in the Ridgeback lineup. The Rhodie 6K is 4.5 in. and 12.5 oz, rated at 136 to 138 dB with very low back pressure. Both are Inconel, cover 5.56 and 6mm, and need a 10.3 in. or longer barrel. The 6K takes a muzzle device up to 1.2 in. deep; the 6 takes up to 1.5 in.

What's the difference between the Rhodie 6K and Rhodie 6J?

Same 4.5 in. length and the same internal geometry. The 6K is Inconel at 12.5 oz and needs a 10.3 in. or longer barrel. The Rhodie 6J is Haynes 282 at 13.5 oz and is rated for barrels down to 7.5 in.

What is the Rhodie 6Ti?

The Rhodie 6Ti is the titanium Rhodie 6: 5.5 in., 9.5 to 10 oz, rated as low as 130 dB on a 12.5 in. rifle. It's full-auto rated for 3 magazines before it needs to cool, and it shows mild sparking.

What calibers can the Rhodie 6 shoot?

Ridgeback optimizes the Rhodie 6, 6K, 6J and 6Ti for 5.56 and 6mm. For 300 BLK, 7.62x39 or .308, look at the Sahara 300 or Sahara 762.

Is the Rhodie 6 full-auto rated?

Yes. The Inconel Rhodie 6 and Haynes 282 Rhodie 6J are full-auto rated, and the Rhodie 6K is rated for 6 magazines in 1 minute. The titanium Rhodie 6Ti is rated for 3 magazines, then let it cool.

What muzzle device works with the Rhodie 6 or Rhodie 6K?

Any device that threads into a HUB rear or a HUB adapter, as long as it sits no deeper inside the suppressor than Ridgeback's limit: 1.5 in. on the Rhodie 6 and 1.2 in. on the Rhodie 6K. That's how far the device reaches into the suppressor, not its total length. Ridgeback recommends a short Plan B setup, such as the Plan-B by Q, or a direct thread mount.

Has PEW Science tested the Rhodie 6?

Not as of October 2026. PEW Science hasn't published a test of any Ridgeback suppressor, so the dB numbers in this guide are Ridgeback's own. The early consensus is strong, though: Silencer Analytics has described the Rhodie 6 as having a reputation as "one of the strongest-performing .223 suppressors currently available."

Rhodie 6 vs. Exigent FireTeam556: which should I buy?

Both are Inconel HUB-rear 5.56 suppressors at a similar price. The Rhodie 6 is 5.5 in. and 15.5 to 16 oz and also covers 6mm. The Exigent FireTeam556 is 5.75 in. and 14.9 oz. See How Ridgeback Compares for more.

Rhodie 6K vs. Stealth Additive Works Tisha: what's the difference?

The Tisha 5.56 is shorter at 4.1 in. without a mount, and its titanium version weighs 10.5 oz. The Rhodie 6K is 4.5 in. and 12.5 oz of Inconel, and it's priced below the Tisha.

Rhino X vs. Rhino S: what's the difference?

The Rhino X is Inconel, 5 in. and 12.5 oz, rated at 136 dB and 6 magazines of full-auto in under a minute. The Rhino S is its titanium version, 6 in. and 9.5 oz, rated at 132 dB and 3 magazines in under a minute.

What is the Ridgeback Sahara 300 for?

The Sahara 300 is built first for subsonic 300 BLK and also runs supersonic 300 BLK, 7.62x39 and .308. It's titanium, 6.75 in. and 11 oz, and rated for barrels from 4.5 in. to over 20 in.

What is the Ridgeback Mamba 9?

The Mamba 9 is Ridgeback's 9mm PCC suppressor: titanium, 6.5 in. and 10 oz, full-auto rated on 9mm, for barrels from 4.5 to 16 in. The Mamba 9K is the 5.5 in., 8.5 oz version.

What is OppFlow?

OppFlow is Ridgeback's gas management system. It forces high-pressure gas from the blast chamber to collide with gas moving through the baffle stack. Ridgeback says it reduces back pressure, eliminates first-round pop and gives a deeper, cleaner tone.

Where are Ridgeback Defense suppressors made?
