Exigent Defense Buying Guide

The FireTeam556, RICO309, Overwatch762, Pointman9 and FireCat22: what each Exigent Defense suppressor is built for, Inconel vs. titanium, Exigent's published sound data, mounts, and how they compare.

Where to start

How to Choose an Exigent Defense Suppressor

Exigent Defense builds suppressors for law enforcement, out of Lexington, Kentucky, and sells the same cans to civilian shooters. Its motto is "Over Built. Under Budget." Every Exigent suppressor is 3D printed as one piece in Inconel 718 or grade 5 titanium, with no welds, and every one is full-auto rated.

Pick by caliber:

  • FireTeam556: the 5.56 duty can. Inconel, 5.75 in., 14.9 oz, designed and produced with B&T USA, and one of the most popular suppressors of 2026.
  • RICO309: 9mm and subsonic 300 BLK in one titanium can, 7.25 in. and 9 oz, for PCCs, PDWs and compact rifles.
  • Overwatch762: a titanium .30 cal for AR-10 DMRs and bolt guns, 6.75 in. and 10.1 oz.
  • Pointman9: an Inconel 9mm subgun can for the MP5, MPX and APC9.
  • FireCat22: an Inconel rimfire can that also handles 5.7x28, full-auto and forced reset triggers.

Every centerfire Exigent uses the HUB (1.375x24) rear thread. Mounts are sold separately; see mounts.

Why Exigent

Built for Duty Use

  • One-piece printed cores. Each suppressor is made by direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) as a single piece, with no welds to fail.
  • Hard-use materials. Inconel 718 on the FireTeam556, Pointman9 and FireCat22 for heat and erosion resistance; grade 5 titanium on the RICO309 and Overwatch762 to save weight.
  • Full-auto rated across the line. Even the FireCat22 rimfire can is rated for full-auto, forced reset triggers and 5.7x28.
  • Less back pressure and blowback. Each centerfire Exigent routes gas away from the bore or forward through vents to reduce back pressure and gas blowback at the shooter. On the Overwatch762, that also helps gas guns cycle reliably.
  • Built for law enforcement. Exigent works directly with state and federal agencies on duty suppressors, and the FireTeam556 was designed and produced with B&T USA (Exigent Defense video).

These are Exigent's own figures, and Exigent posts B&T-certified sound data for the FireTeam556. They measure reduction compared with the unsuppressed gun, so they can't be lined up directly against other brands' numbers.

What our customers say

Colin, FireTeam556 owner: Ran about 600 rounds on the first range trip: "556 isnt the easiest to suppress but this does a great job."

Caleb, RICO309 owner: Runs it on an AP5SD and full-size AP5: "incredibly quiet," fits inside the SD handguard, and he recommends it for any MP5 clone.

Mounting

Exigent Defense Mounts

  • HUB rear. The FireTeam556, RICO309, Overwatch762 and Pointman9 use the 1.375x24 HUB thread (Bravo compatible), so they work with HUB direct thread and QD mounts from most major brands. Shop rifle mounts or pistol mounts.
  • Mounts are sold separately. Exigent doesn't include a direct thread adapter with its HUB suppressors, so add the mount that fits your barrel thread.
  • FireCat22: threads straight onto a 1/2x28 barrel.
