Unknown Suppressors Buying Guide

Unknown Suppressors builds 3D printed titanium suppressors for hunters in Post Falls, Idaho, each one printed as a single piece of Grade 23 titanium. We sell the Reaper, OG 30, OG 6.5 and OG 6-S, and we can get the NHS, Gnat and Midge. The sections below compare the models and explain where each one fits.

Where to start

How to Choose an Unknown Suppressor

Unknown makes two kinds of hunting suppressors. The Reaper hangs entirely off the muzzle on a HUB mount, so you can move it between rifles. The OG slides back over the barrel, so it adds less length and keeps the rifle balanced, but it's harder to move around and is typically used on one rifle. Choose the type first, then match the bore to your caliber.

A few things to know

  • Over the barrel: an over-the-barrel (reflex) suppressor slides back over the end of your barrel. The OG 30 is 8 in. long, but only 4 in. of it sticks out past the muzzle. See the over-the-barrel pros and cons.
  • Build: every Unknown is 3D printed as one piece of Grade 23 titanium, with no welds and no threaded joints in the body, so it can't be taken apart.
  • Heat: keep it under 800°F. Titanium loses strength at high heat, so these are built for hunting and precision rifles, not long strings of rapid fire.
  • Match the bore: a bore matched to your caliber typically improves suppression by about 1 to 3 dB, depending on the size. That's why the OG comes in .30 cal, 6.5mm and 6mm.
  • Sound numbers: the dB ratings in this guide are Unknown's own. The ones marked 2026 Silencer Summit are independent test results.
  • Colors: the Reaper, OG 30, OG 6.5 and OG 6-S come in Black, FDE, OD Green, Sniper Grey.

Choosing by configuration

  • One .30 cal suppressor for several rifles: the Reaper, 6 in. and 8.8 oz with its direct thread adapter, on a HUB mount.
  • A short, balanced .30 cal hunting rifle: the OG 30, 8.6 oz, only 4 in. past the muzzle.
  • 6.5 Creedmoor or 6.5 PRC: the OG 6.5, 7.4 oz, only 4 in. past the muzzle.
  • 6mm Creedmoor: the OG 6-S, 6.4 oz, only 3 in. past the muzzle.
  • .22 LR: the Gnat and Midge, 2.4 oz and 2.8 oz.
  • Competition, where muzzle blast and recoil matter more than sound: the NHS.

Available by pre-order: the NHS, Gnat and Midge, plus any Unknown we carry that's out of stock. Call us at 512-879-1068 to pre-order one. You can also sign up for the back-in-stock email on any product page.

Why Unknown

What Unknown Suppressors Is Known For

Unknown builds suppressors for hunters. Its silencers are 3D printed, machined, Cerakoted and inspected under one roof in Post Falls, Idaho, and the over-the-barrel OG is the design that started the lineup.

  • Light weight: the OG 6-S is 6.4 oz, the OG 6.5 is 7.4 oz, and the Reaper is 8.8 oz with its adapter.
  • Balance: the OG sits partly over the barrel, so the weight stays closer to your hands and the rifle doesn't feel muzzle-heavy.
  • One piece of titanium: printing each suppressor as a single piece of Grade 23 titanium means no welds and no threaded joints in the body.
  • Tone: Unknown tunes its silencers for a lower, hollow tone rather than a sharp crack.
  • Warranty: every Unknown suppressor has a limited lifetime warranty.
Over the barrel

Over-the-Barrel (Reflex) Suppressors: Pros and Cons

An over-the-barrel suppressor, also called a reflex suppressor, slides back over the end of your barrel, so part of it sits behind the muzzle. The OG is built this way. The Reaper isn't; it sits entirely in front of the muzzle.

Why it helps

  • A shorter rifle: the OG 30 is 8 in. long, but it only adds 4 in. past the muzzle. The OG 6-S adds 3 in.
  • Better balance: with part of the can over the barrel, the weight sits closer to your hands, so the rifle doesn't feel muzzle-heavy when you carry it or shoulder it.
  • More volume without more length: the space around the barrel gives the gas more room to expand, without adding length past the muzzle.
  • Tone: the OG is tuned for a lower, hollow tone, not a sharp crack.

What to watch for

  • Barrel fit: your barrel has to be 0.750 in. or less in diameter over the part the suppressor covers. Measure before you order; a heavy-contour or carbon-fiber barrel can be too thick.
  • Direct thread only: the OG threads straight onto a 5/8x24 barrel with no quick-detach option.
  • Pick the right bore: choose the OG made for your caliber: .30 cal, 6.5mm or 6mm. A matched bore is typically about 1 to 3 dB quieter.

If you want one silencer for several rifles, or your barrel is too thick, look at the Reaper.

.30 cal, HUB mount

Unknown Reaper

Unknown Reaper

The Reaper is Unknown's HUB-mount .30 cal suppressor: 6 in. long and 8.8 oz with its direct thread adapter, sitting fully in front of the muzzle.

Calibers: .30 cal and smaller  |  Length: 6 in.  |  Weight: 8.8 oz with adapter, 7.9 oz without  |  Diameter: 1.8 in.  |  Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread adapter included  |  Rated: 127 dB at the shooter's ear, 20 in. .308

The HUB rear is what sets it apart from the OG. It works with any HUB direct thread mount or quick-detach system, so one Reaper can move between your rifles. Its end cap swaps too: a .30 cal cap comes on it, and a 6.5mm cap is available.

There's no barrel length limit on standard cartridges like 5.56, 300 BLK, 6.5 Creedmoor and .308. Short action magnums need a 16 in. barrel, and long action magnums like 300 Win Mag need 20 in.

Reaper or OG 30? The Reaper is 2 in. shorter overall but sits fully past the muzzle, while the OG 30 adds only 4 in. The Reaper moves between rifles; the OG 30 is for one dedicated rifle.

Unknown OG Suppressors: OG 30, OG 6.5 and OG 6-S

The OG is Unknown's over-the-barrel suppressor, made in three bore sizes. Each one threads onto a 5/8x24 barrel and slides back over it, so most of the suppressor sits behind the muzzle. Your barrel has to be 0.750 in. or less in diameter over the part it covers. Because the OG threads straight on, it's best dedicated to one rifle. See the over-the-barrel pros and cons.

OG 30.30 cal8 in.4 in.8.6 oz130 dBA, 20 in. .308
OG 6.56.5mm8 in.4 in.7.4 oz129.5 dBA, 24 in. 6.5 Creedmoor
OG 6-S6mm6 in.3 in.6.4 oz131 dB, 18 in. 6mm Creedmoor

Unknown OG 30

The OG 30 is the .30 cal OG: 8 in. long, only 4 in. past the muzzle, and 8.6 oz.

Bore: .30 cal  |  Length: 8 in. overall, 4 in. over the barrel  |  Weight: 8.6 oz  |  Diameter: 1.625 in.  |  Mount: 5/8x24 direct thread  |  Rated: 130 dBA at the shooter's ear, 20 in. .308

It's the newest version of the original OG, lighter and quieter, with the same over-the-barrel profile and the lower, hollow tone the OG is known for. It fits a .30 cal hunting rifle where keeping length and weight down matters.

Test results and reviews

2026 Silencer Summit: 129.77 dBA at the shooter's ear on a 20 in. .308 bolt gun with M118LR, 14th quietest of the 50 suppressors tested on that rifle.

Unknown OG 6.5 (OG Six-Five)

The OG 6.5 is the 6.5mm OG: 8 in. long with 4 in. over the barrel, and 7.4 oz.

Bore: 6.5mm  |  Length: 8 in. overall, 4 in. over the barrel  |  Weight: 7.4 oz  |  Diameter: 1.55 in.  |  Mount: 5/8x24 direct thread  |  Rated: 129.5 dBA at the shooter's ear, 24 in. 6.5 Creedmoor

The tighter bore makes it quieter than the OG 30 on 6.5mm and smaller cartridges, and it's 1.2 oz lighter. It covers 6.5 Creedmoor and .260 Rem with no barrel length limit; 6.5 PRC and other short action magnums need a 16 in. barrel, and long action magnums need 18 in.

It's also sold as the OG Six-Five.

Test results and reviews

83Scrambler, OG 6.5 owner: "I'm liking the light weight and over-the-barrel design, the gun handles noticeably better than my .308 setup."

Shop the Unknown OG 6.5 →

Unknown OG 6-S

The OG 6-S is the 6mm OG and the lightest centerfire suppressor in the lineup: 6 in. long with 3 in. over the barrel, and 6.4 oz.

Bore: 6mm  |  Length: 6 in. overall, 3 in. over the barrel  |  Weight: 6.4 oz  |  Diameter: 1.625 in.  |  Mount: 5/8x24 direct thread  |  Rated: 131 dB at the shooter's ear, 18 in. 6mm Creedmoor

It's built for a 6mm Creedmoor hunting or precision rifle where weight matters. With only 3 in. past the muzzle, it adds little length to the rifle.

Test results and reviews

David, OG 6-S owner: "It's super light, barely adds anything to the barrel length. My rifle still balances great."

Unknown NHS, Gnat and Midge

Unknown Gnat and Midge

The Gnat and Midge are Unknown's .22 LR suppressors, each printed as one piece of Grade 23 titanium.

Calibers: .22 LR and smaller rimfire  |  Length: Gnat 4.5 in., Midge 5.5 in.  |  Weight: Gnat 2.4 oz, Midge 2.8 oz  |  Diameter: 1 in.  |  Mount: 1/2x28 direct thread  |  Color: Black

They're rated hearing safe with .22 LR. A 3D printed titanium silencer can't be scrubbed by hand like a suppressor you take apart, so Unknown cleans both for free for life. Choose the Gnat for the shorter, lighter setup and the Midge if the extra inch of length works for you.

Unknown NHS

The NHS (Not Hearing Safe) is Unknown's 6.5mm competition suppressor, with a built-in muzzle brake.

Bore: 6.5mm  |  Length: 5.4 in.  |  Weight: 9.3 oz  |  Diameter: 1.8 in.  |  Mount: Taper lock, 5/8x24 or 3/4x24  |  Colors: Black, Grey, OD Green, FDE

It's built to reduce muzzle blast and recoil more than sound for competition use. The taper lock lets you time it yourself, with no shims. It works for hunting too; it just isn't hearing safe.

Comparisons

How Unknown Compares

The tables below compare the Unknown suppressors we carry with similar suppressors from other brands. Lengths and weights come from our product pages.

Reaper and OG 30 vs. other light .30 cal suppressors

All of these were tested on the same 20 in. .308 bolt gun with M118LR at the 2026 Silencer Summit. The number is the sound level at the shooter's ear, so lower is quieter.

Mounts

Unknown Mounts

  • OG 30, OG 6.5 and OG 6-S: these thread straight onto a 5/8x24 barrel. There's no separate mount, so each one stays on its rifle.
  • Reaper: the HUB (1.375x24) rear takes any HUB mount, and a 5/8x24 direct thread adapter comes in the box. For a 1/2x28 barrel, the Diligent Defense Ti Direct Thread Adapter is a light titanium option.
  • Other thread pitches on the Reaper: several HUB direct-thread options are available. The SilencerCo Bravo Direct Thread Mount and the Dead Air direct thread mounts come in about ten thread pitches each.
  • Quick-detach on the Reaper: a HUB adapter like the Plan-B by Q lets you move it between rifles with Plan B muzzle devices.
  • Gnat and Midge: 1/2x28 direct thread, the standard .22 LR thread.

FAQ

Unknown Suppressors FAQ

Who makes Unknown Suppressors?

Unknown Suppressors is a suppressor maker in Post Falls, Idaho, that builds 3D printed titanium suppressors for hunters. Every silencer is printed, machined, Cerakoted and inspected in Post Falls, and each one is a single piece of Grade 23 titanium.

What is an over-the-barrel suppressor?

An over-the-barrel (reflex) suppressor slides back over the end of your barrel, so part of it sits behind the muzzle. The OG 30 is 8 in. long, but only 4 in. sticks out past the muzzle. That keeps the rifle shorter and puts the weight closer to your hands than a suppressor that sits entirely in front of the muzzle. See the over-the-barrel pros and cons.

Unknown Reaper vs. OG 30: which should I buy?

Pick the Reaper if you want to move one suppressor between rifles. It has a HUB rear, so it works with HUB direct thread mounts and quick-detach systems, and its end cap swaps between .30 cal and 6.5mm. At the 2026 Silencer Summit it measured 128.06 dBA at the shooter's ear on a 20 in. .308, against 129.77 for the OG 30. Pick the OG 30 for a dedicated hunting rifle: it adds only 4 in. past the muzzle, weighs 8.6 oz and threads straight onto a 5/8x24 barrel.

How quiet is the Unknown Reaper?

It's rated at 127 dB at the shooter's ear on a 20 in. .308 with M118. At the 2026 Silencer Summit, it measured 128.06 dBA at the shooter's ear on a 20 in. .308 bolt gun, 6th quietest of the 50 suppressors tested on that rifle.

How much does the Unknown Reaper weigh?

8.8 oz with its direct thread adapter, and 7.9 oz without it. It's 6 in. long and 1.8 in. in diameter.

What calibers can the Unknown Reaper shoot?

.30 cal and smaller, including 5.56, 300 BLK, 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor and .308, with no barrel length limit on those. Short action magnums like 6.5 PRC and .300 WSM need a 16 in. barrel, and long action magnums like 300 Win Mag need 20 in.

Will an Unknown OG fit my barrel?

It will if your barrel is threaded 5/8x24 and is 0.750 in. or less in diameter over the part the suppressor covers: the last 4 in. on the OG 30 and OG 6.5, and the last 3 in. on the OG 6-S.

Should I get the OG 6.5 or the OG 30 for 6.5 Creedmoor?

The OG 6.5. Matching the bore to your caliber typically improves suppression by about 1 to 3 dB depending on the size, so the OG 6.5 is quieter than the OG 30 on 6.5mm and smaller cartridges. It's also lighter, at 7.4 oz.

Is the Unknown OG 6.5 the same as the OG Six-Five?

Yes. Unknown calls it the OG 6.5, and it's also sold as the OG Six-Five. It's 8 in. long with 4 in. over the barrel, weighs 7.4 oz and is rated at 129.5 dBA at the shooter's ear on a 24 in. 6.5 Creedmoor.

How hot can an Unknown suppressor get?

Keep it under 800°F. Titanium loses strength at high heat, so Unknown's centerfire silencers are built for hunting and precision rifles, where you're not running long strings of rapid fire.

Can you take apart an Unknown suppressor?

No. Every Unknown is printed as one piece of titanium, with no welds and no threaded joints in the body, so it can't be taken apart. The Reaper's end cap does unscrew so you can swap calibers.

What colors do Unknown suppressors come in?

The Reaper, OG 30, OG 6.5 and OG 6-S come in Black, FDE, OD Green and Sniper Grey. The Gnat and Midge come in Black.

What's the difference between the Unknown Gnat and Midge?

Length and weight. Both are one-piece titanium .22 LR suppressors on 1/2x28 threads. The Gnat is 4.5 in. and 2.4 oz, and the Midge is 5.5 in. and 2.8 oz. Unknown cleans both for free for life, since .22 LR runs dirty.

What is the Unknown NHS?

NHS stands for Not Hearing Safe. It's a 6.5mm competition suppressor with a built-in muzzle brake, designed to cut muzzle blast and recoil more than sound. It's 5.4 in. and 9.3 oz, and it mounts with a taper lock you time yourself, with no shims.

Do Unknown suppressors have a warranty?

Yes. Every Unknown suppressor has a limited lifetime warranty.
