Canik Suppressor Buying Guide

Every Canik VOID suppressor we carry: the VOID-556, VOID-556K, VOID-762 and VOID-9. What each one is for, how the two end caps work, which mounts fit, barrel limits, and how they stack up against the Otter Creek Labs cans they're built with.

Where to start

How to Choose a Canik Suppressor

Canik is best known for its pistols. Its VOID suppressors, launched at SHOT Show 2026, were designed and produced in partnership with Otter Creek Labs, the suppressor company behind the Polonium. The line is short and easy to sort: three stainless rifle cans and one titanium 9mm can. Start with the gun, then pick the length.

  • Every VOID ships with two end caps. A solid cap for the most sound reduction, and a low back pressure cap (vented on the VOID-9) for less gas at your face on a semi-auto. More on that below.
  • The rifle cans are HUB (1.375x24) and ship with a direct thread adapter: 1/2x28 on the VOID-556 and VOID-556K, 5/8x24 on the VOID-762. Any HUB quick-detach mount works too.
  • The VOID-9 is different. It has a 1.125x28 rear thread, not HUB, and ships with a booster and 1/2x28 piston installed, so it's ready for a threaded 9mm pistol out of the box.
  • Barrel minimums. The VOID-556, VOID-556K and VOID-762 all run 5.56 on a barrel as short as 7.5 in.
  • 5.56 carbine, or one can for a few ARs: the VOID-556.
  • Short-barreled AR or you want the shortest setup: the VOID-556K, an inch shorter and 2.6 oz lighter.
  • One rifle can for 5.56, 300 Blackout, .308 and .300 Win Mag: the VOID-762.
  • 9mm pistol or PCC: the titanium VOID-9.
  • Lots of gas at the charging handle on your AR, or you shoot left-handed: any VOID rifle can with the low back pressure cap on.

Why Buy a Canik Suppressor

  • Built with Otter Creek Labs. Canik designed and produces the VOID line in partnership with OCL, whose Polonium and Polonium K are among our best-selling 5.56 suppressors. The VOID rifle cans use welded, heat-treated 17-4 stainless, the same family of construction. Read more in our Otter Creek Labs buying guide.
  • Your choice of back pressure. The two end caps are the main difference from most cans in this price range. Run the solid cap for the most suppression, or the low back pressure cap when gas to the face matters more.
  • Value. The VOID-556 and VOID-556K are among the lower-priced 5.56 suppressors we carry, and the VOID-762 is one of the lower-priced .30 cal suppressors we carry.
  • Standard mounts. The rifle cans are HUB, so they work with the HUB quick-detach mounts you may already own from Dead Air, SilencerCo and others.

Ricky N., VOID-556K owner: Said it sounds better than some suppressors he's used that cost quite a bit more.

End caps and mounts

Canik End Caps and Mounts Explained

Solid cap or low back pressure cap?

Every VOID ships with both, and you swap them yourself. The solid cap traps more gas inside the suppressor, which is where the most sound reduction comes from. The low back pressure cap lets more gas out the front, so less of it comes back through the action. That means less gas in your face, less carbon in the gun and less change in how a semi-auto cycles, with some sound given up in exchange.

  • Bolt guns and subsonic 300 BLK: the solid cap. Back pressure doesn't bother a bolt action, so take the suppression.
  • Short-barreled ARs, gassy uppers and left-handed shooters: start with the low back pressure cap.
  • VOID-9: the solid cap for the most suppression; the vented cap for lower back pressure.

HUB is the 1.375x24 thread most suppressor companies use, so a VOID rifle can will work with quick-detach mounts like the SilencerCo Bravo ASR Mount or Dead Air Xeno Adapter and the matching muzzle device. Check your barrel thread first; our thread pitch chart covers the common ones.

Canik VOID-762

The VOID-762 is the .30 cal, and the most versatile can in the line. It's rated from 5.56 through .300 Win Mag.

Calibers: 5.56 through .300 Win Mag  |  Length: 6.1 in.  |  Weight: 14.9 oz  |  Diameter: 1.625 in.  |  Material: Heat-treated 17-4 stainless, Cerakote  |  Mount: HUB, 5/8x24 direct thread adapter included  |  Barrel: 300 BLK 6.5 in.; 5.56 and 7.62x39 7.5 in.; 6mm ARC and 6.5 Grendel 10.5 in.; .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor 12.5 in.; .300 Win Mag 16 in.

Yes, a 7.62 suppressor is a .30 cal suppressor. That bore size is what lets one VOID-762 cover a 300 BLK SBR, an AR-10 and a .300 Win Mag bolt gun.

Put the low back pressure cap on for gas guns like an AR-10 or a short 300 BLK, and the solid cap on for bolt guns and subsonics.

It's the same length and weight as the VOID-556. If you only shoot 5.56, get the VOID-556, which is built for that bore. If you shoot more than one caliber, get the VOID-762.

9mm pistol and PCC

Canik VOID-9

Canik VOID-9

The VOID-9 is Canik's 9mm suppressor for pistols and PCCs, printed from Grade 5 titanium and built with Otter Creek Labs.

Calibers: 9mm; 300 BLK and .338 ARC; .357 Mag lever guns  |  Length: 6 in.  |  Weight: 7.5 oz  |  Diameter: 1.375 in.  |  Material: Printed titanium, Cerakote  |  Mount: 1.125x28 rear; booster with 1/2x28 piston installed  |  Barrel: 9mm none; 300 BLK and .338 ARC subsonic none; supersonic 9 in., semi-auto only; .357 Mag lever 8 in.

It comes ready for a pistol: the booster and 1/2x28 piston are installed, and it ships with a solid and a vented end cap. The threaded barrels in Canik's U.S. store use 1/2x28, so a threaded Canik is a natural pairing (see suppressing a Canik pistol).

For a carbine or PCC, the 1.125x28 rear takes fixed mounts with the same thread SilencerCo calls Alpha, like the SilencerCo Alpha Direct Thread Mount. It isn't HUB, so HUB mounts won't fit.

At 1.375 in. wide it's the slimmest of the 9mm cans compared below, and it also handles subsonic 300 BLK with no barrel limit.

Suppressing a Canik Pistol

To put a suppressor on a Canik pistol, you need a threaded barrel. The VOID-9 is set up for it out of the box. The threaded barrels in Canik's U.S. store use 1/2x28, the same thread as the piston the VOID-9 ships with.

The METE SFT Pro comes from the factory with a 1/2x28 threaded barrel. For the others, Canik sells a threaded barrel that drops in:

How Canik Compares

VOID vs. Otter Creek Labs Polonium

Since the VOID line is built with OCL, the Polonium family is the natural comparison. These are the manufacturers' specs.

LengthWeightDiameter5.56 minimum barrel
VOID-5566.1 in.14.9 oz1.625 in.7.5 in.
OCL Polonium5.8 in.13.5 oz1.625 in.7.5 in.
VOID-556K5.1 in.12.3 oz1.625 in.7.5 in.
OCL Polonium K4.8 in.11.5 oz1.625 in.7.5 in.
VOID-7626.1 in.14.9 oz1.625 in.7.5 in.
OCL Polonium 305.8 in.13.5 oz1.625 in.7.5 in.

Each VOID is 0.3 in. longer and a little heavier than the matching Polonium, with the same diameter and the same 7.5 in. 5.56 minimum. The Polonium family is known for strong sound reduction with higher back pressure, and it's one of the lower-priced lines we carry. The VOID ships with both a solid and a low back pressure end cap, which is the reason to pick it if gas to the face is what you're trying to fix. PEW Science has tested the Polonium cans; it hasn't published a VOID test yet.

VOID-9 vs. other titanium 9mm cans

OCL Lithium6 in.5.7 oz1.5 in.HUB1/2x28 direct thread mount
LayerX Strake 96.5 in.8.5 oz1.54 in.HUBNo mount

The VOID-9 is the one that's ready for a pistol out of the box, and the slimmest of the three. The OCL Lithium is the lightest and comes set up for a fixed-barrel carbine. The LayerX Strake 9 is built around low back pressure on MP5s and PCCs; see our LayerX buying guide.

FAQ

Canik Suppressor FAQ

Who makes Canik suppressors?

Canik designed and produces the VOID line in partnership with Otter Creek Labs, the company behind the Polonium suppressors.

Which Canik suppressor should I buy?

For a 5.56 rifle, the VOID-556. For a short-barreled AR, the VOID-556K. For one can from 5.56 through .300 Win Mag, the VOID-762. For a 9mm pistol or PCC, the VOID-9.

What's the difference between the VOID-556 and the VOID-556K?

Length and weight. The VOID-556 is 6.1 in. and 14.9 oz; the VOID-556K is 5.1 in. and 12.3 oz. Both are 17-4 stainless, HUB-threaded, rated for 5.56 and 6mm ARC with the same barrel limits, and ship with both end caps.

What are the two end caps for?

The solid cap gives the most sound reduction. The low back pressure cap lets more gas out the front, so less comes back at you on a semi-auto. The VOID-9 ships with a solid and a vented cap.

Is a 7.62 suppressor a .30 cal suppressor?

Yes. The VOID-762 is a .30 cal suppressor rated from 5.56 through .300 Win Mag, including 300 Blackout, .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor, with barrel minimums for each.

What barrel length do I need for the Canik VOID suppressors?

For 5.56, 7.5 in. or longer on the VOID-556, VOID-556K and VOID-762. 6mm ARC needs 10.5 in. On the VOID-762, 300 BLK needs 6.5 in., .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor 12.5 in., and .300 Win Mag 16 in. A 10.5 or 11.5 in. AR works with all three.

Can I use the VOID-762 on 300 Blackout?

Yes, on barrels 6.5 in. and longer. The VOID-9 also handles subsonic 300 BLK with no barrel limit and supersonic from a 9 in. barrel, semi-auto only.

Is the Canik VOID-9 HUB compatible?

No. The VOID-9 has a 1.125x28 rear thread, the same thread SilencerCo calls Alpha. The VOID-556, VOID-556K and VOID-762 are HUB (1.375x24).

Will the VOID-9 work on my Canik pistol?

Yes, on a threaded barrel. It ships with a booster and a 1/2x28 piston installed, and the threaded barrels in Canik's U.S. store use 1/2x28. The METE SFT Pro comes threaded from the factory; for most other Canik pistols, Canik sells a drop-in threaded barrel.

Can you put a suppressor on a Canik TTI Combat?

Only with a threaded barrel, and Canik's site doesn't list one for the TTI Combat. Check your barrel before you order a suppressor.

What comes in the box?

The VOID-556 and VOID-556K come with a 1/2x28 direct thread adapter and both end caps. The VOID-762 comes with a 5/8x24 direct thread adapter and both end caps. The VOID-9 comes with the booster, a 1/2x28 piston, and a solid and vented end cap.

Are Canik VOID suppressors full-auto rated?

Canik doesn't publish a full-auto rating for the VOID line. If you're planning to run one on a machine gun, call us first.

What are the Canik VOID suppressors made of?

The VOID-556, VOID-556K and VOID-762 are welded, heat-treated 17-4 stainless with a black Cerakote finish. The VOID-9 is printed Grade 5 titanium.

Are Canik suppressors any good?

They're built with Otter Creek Labs, and the rifle cans are among the lower-priced 5.56 and .30 cal suppressors we carry. One VOID-556K owner wrote in his review on our site that it sounds better than some suppressors he's used that cost quite a bit more.

How do Canik VOID suppressors compare to the OCL Polonium?

Each VOID is 0.3 in. longer and slightly heavier than the matching Polonium, with the same 1.625 in. diameter and 7.5 in. 5.56 barrel minimum. The VOID ships with both a solid and a low back pressure end cap.

Do I need a tax stamp for a Canik suppressor?

No. The NFA tax on suppressors has been $0 since January 1, 2026. We handle the paperwork and ship your suppressor to your home.

Ready to Buy Your Canik Suppressor?

Every Canik suppressor purchase includes electronic filing, and your suppressor ships from our facility to your home. Need a trust or fingerprints? We handle those too, and you can upload an existing EFT file right on our site.
