LAYERX STRAKE 9 9MM SUPPRESSOR - PCC AND MP5 SUPPRESSOR WITH VERY LOW BACK PRESSURE
The LayerX Strake 9 is a 9mm suppressor built for MP5s, AR-9s, CZ Scorpions, Stribogs and other PCCs. It's printed from DFARS Grade 5 titanium as a single piece, weighs 8.5 ounces and is 6.5 inches long. LayerX's Strand DNA internals vent gas forward through a spiral channel fed from every baffle chamber, so the Strake 9 adds very little back pressure. That means less gas at the charging handle and ejection port, and less change in how your gun runs. In PEW Science testing on an 8.9-inch HK SP5, the Strake 9 earned a 48.5 composite Suppression Rating (report SSS.6.231). It's full-auto rated on 9mm at any barrel length and on subsonic 300 Blackout from 7 inches. Its HUB (1.375x24) threads take 3-lug, direct thread, booster and QD mounts, and it runs on 9mm pistols with a HUB booster. It's finished in Alphatek low-IR coating and ships test-fired to confirm it's concentric to the bore.
CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION
The 9mm suppressor market is crowded, but most cans in this category are built for handguns first and PCCs second. The Strake9 flips that priority. At 6.5 inches and 8.5 ounces, it is sized and weighted for MP5s, AR9s, and similar platforms where balance matters, and the Strand DNA geometry is tuned for the back pressure characteristics of blowback and roller-delayed hosts. The DFARS Grade 5 titanium construction and DMLS manufacturing put the Strake9 in a different category than most welded or machined 9mm cans at this price point. DMLS allows internal geometries that are not achievable through conventional manufacturing, and the Strand DNA internals take advantage of that. The Alphatek low-IR coating adds heat management and durability without the weight penalty of steel. The HUB interface keeps your mounting options open. A 3-lug mount is the natural pairing for an MP5 host, and the booster assembly compatibility means the same suppressor transitions to a handgun without issue. No mount is included, so factor that into your total cost, but the flexibility the HUB pattern provides more than offsets the additional purchase.
