YHM VICTRA-20 SUPPRESSOR - MODULAR LIGHTWEIGHT 20 GAUGE SHOTGUN SILENCER, UP TO 3.5" SHELLS
The YHM Victra-20 is a modular 20 gauge shotgun suppressor built in the YHM Victra-12 tradition, designed with hunters, sport shooters, and home defense in mind. It's user-configurable from its full 10" length down to 8", 6", and 4" versions. In the full 10" configuration, it measures 10.4" overall, weighs 22 oz, and reduces most commercial shotgun loads to 132 dB at the shooter's ear, according to YHM. The 4" configuration measures 4.4" overall, weighs 12 oz, and averages 138 dB at the ear. Built from 7075 aluminum and 17-4 PH stainless steel with a hard anodize and Melonite finish, the Victra-20 handles shells up to 3.5".
The Victra-20 attaches to your shotgun's factory choke threads using a host-specific Victra-20 mount assembly, sold separately. YHM offers mounts for Remington; Browning Invector, Mossberg 500, and Winchester; Benelli Crio Plus; Beretta Optima HP; Beretta/Benelli Mobil; and Browning Invector Plus. The mounts don't choke the shot. That happens at the muzzle of the suppressor, which ships with an Improved Cylinder choke, and additional Victra-20 chokes are available separately. Additional rod kits shorten the suppressor to the 8", 6", or 4" configurations, and assembly and disassembly require a 5/32" Allen wrench, which isn't included.
YHM designed the Victra-20 for wadded or slug 20 gauge ammunition and recommends shotshells with a cup-style wad. Only factory-loaded ammunition should be used. High-density shot such as Hevi-Shot, Federal TSS, or similar tungsten or bismuth loads, as well as slugs, should not be used with a full choke, and Flitecontrol, Versatite, or similar wads may damage the suppressor. Maximum shell length depends on barrel length, from 2 3/4" shells on a 7.5" barrel up to 3.5" shells on a 16" barrel.
CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION
Shotgun suppressors are already a bit of a niche, and 20 gauge cans are even rarer, so we were glad to see YHM bring the Victra-20 to market. With four lengths from 4" to 10", it can ride on your dove gun in the morning and turn into a short, handy home defense setup at night. If you're carrying a 20 gauge through the uplands all day, the 4" configuration at 12 ounces is a nice option too.
We like how simple the mounting is. It threads onto your existing choke threads, so there's no barrel work involved, and the choke sits at the end of the suppressor right where it should be. The included Improved Cylinder choke will handle most hunting and field situations, and you can swap to a different Victra-20 choke if you need a tighter pattern.
Just pay attention to your ammo. The Victra-20 is made for factory loads with cup-style wads, so Flitecontrol and Versatite wads, handloads, and high-density tungsten or bismuth loads through a full choke are off the table. For most hunters running everyday 20 gauge field loads, that's a non-issue, but if you shoot premium waterfowl loads or specialty wads, double-check them before you head out.
