RUGGED ALASKAN360 SUPPRESSOR - 9MM AND 5.56 THROUGH .338 LAPUA

The Rugged Alaskan360 is a .36 caliber can built around a tubeless 17-4 stainless steel design, rated for rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua and pistol and subgun calibers up to 9mm. It measures 6.6" long and weighs 9.4 oz without a mount, with a 1.6" diameter, a US Grade 5 titanium front cap, and a High Temp Cerakote finish. The Alaskan360 is also full-auto rated according to the USSOCOM firing schedule, so it holds up on a bolt-action rifle in the backcountry just as well as on a gas gun during a hard day at the range.

That .36 caliber bore is what gives the Alaskan360 such broad caliber coverage. It is magnum-rated for heavy hunting cartridges like .338 Lapua and 300 RUM, handles 350 Legend, 8.6 BLK, and .357 Magnum, and covers common rifle rounds including 5.56, 300 BLK, .308, and 6.5 Creedmoor. Hunters can build around one primary rifle and still move the can over to a 9mm PCC or subgun when the need comes up.

The rear of the Alaskan360 uses HUB (1.375x24) threads, and Capitol Armory offers it three ways. The 5/8x24 Rugged Universal Direct Thread Mount is the lightest way to run it, and how it's sold by default. The titanium Rugged Universal Mount (R.U.M.) adapts the can to Rugged's Dual Taper Locking System for quick-detach use on Rugged rifle muzzle devices, and is an optional upgrade.  Shooters who already own a HUB-compatible mounting system can choose the no-mount option and save money. Third-party HUB-compatible mounts will thread on as well.

For handguns and pistol caliber carbines, the Rugged Universal Cage lets the Alaskan360 work with Rugged pistons, 3-lug mounts, and fixed barrel mounts. Its interchangeable end caps also let you swap the included titanium front cap for a caliber-specific Rugged Front Cap or a Rugged Flash Hider Front Cap, which Rugged says can improve sound and flash reduction for the caliber you shoot most.

CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION

We think the Alaskan360 really shines on large caliber hunting rifles. The .36 bore lets it suppress cartridges that a lot of other silencers simply can't, and it stays short enough to feel right on a rifle you're carrying all day. For a can with this much caliber coverage, it's one of the more compact options out there. Most buyers will put it on a big game rifle, but it pulls double duty on rifles in smaller cartridges and on 9mm PCCs and subguns too.

The steel construction keeps durability high, which matters on a can that might see .338 Lapua one weekend and a subgun the next. The tradeoff is sound. It isn't as quiet as some other silencers, but the quieter options are usually much longer and often can't match the Alaskan360's caliber range. Our advice is to buy it with one specific gun in mind and let that versatility cover your secondary hosts.

If shaving weight is the top priority, take a look at the Rugged Alaskan360Ti. It carries the same caliber rating in an all-titanium build, making it a great fit for hunters who count every ounce.

What is the Alaskan360 best used for?

The Alaskan360 is built for shooters who run a wide variety of platforms and don't want a separate suppressor for each one. It's a rifle can first, designed to handle the full range from 5.56 NATO up to .338 Lapua Magnum. The 9mm bore opens it up to PCCs, MP5 platforms, and oddball rifle calibers like .357 lever guns or an AR chambered in 350 Legend. At 9.4 oz without mount (11.8 oz with the included R.U.M.), it's light enough to work on a backcountry hunting rifle without killing your balance, durable enough for full-auto rated range use, and versatile enough to serve as the only suppressor in your safe. If you're consolidating, this is the can to consolidate around.

What calibers are ideal for the Alaskan360?

The Alaskan360 runs 5.56 NATO through .338 Lapua Magnum on the rifle side, and also handles pistol calibers and PCCs up to 9mm thanks to its 9mm bore diameter. That makes it viable on everything from a lightweight AR build to a magnum bolt gun to an MP5. It's worth noting that the 9mm compatibility is a bonus feature rooted in bore geometry. The 360 is a rifle suppressor at heart, not a purpose-built pistol can. It will function on a 9mm pistol, but pistol performance specifically is a secondary use case. If your collection skews toward rifle platforms across a wide caliber range, the Alaskan360's coverage is hard to beat in its weight class.

What's the difference between the Alaskan360 and Alaskan360 Ti?

Material and weight. The standard Alaskan360 is built from 17-4 stainless steel and comes in at 9.4 oz bare (11.8 oz with the included R.U.M.). The Alaskan360 Ti is built entirely from US Grade 5 titanium, dropping to 5.6 oz without mount and 6.6 oz with its included titanium direct thread mount. This makes it one of the lightest multi-caliber suppressors on the market. Caliber coverage is identical between the two: 5.56 through .338 Lapua on the rifle side, plus 9mm for PCCs and subguns. Both use the same 1.375x24 HUB/Bravo mounting interface and are compatible with the same accessory ecosystem. The Alaskan360 Ti also ships with a glass bead blasted finish rather than Cerakote, which sheds a small amount of additional weight. If you're building an ultralight hunting or precision setup and every ounce counts, the Ti is worth the premium. If you want maximum durability under hard use conditions or prefer the stainless construction, the standard Alaskan360 is the better call.

What does HUB-compatible mean?

HUB refers to the 1.375x24 threaded mounting interface that has become the de facto standard across the suppressor industry. SilencerCo originally developed it as their "Bravo" system for suppressors like the Omega 300, and other manufacturers adopted the same thread spec and marketed it under the HUB name. The result is a large ecosystem of interchangeable QD mounts and adapters from multiple brands, including SilencerCo ASR, Dead Air KeyMo, and Q Plan B that all thread directly onto any HUB-compatible suppressor. For the Alaskan360, this was a significant change from earlier Rugged suppressors that used a proprietary mounting system. HUB compatibility means you're not locked into Rugged-only hardware. If you already have QD mounts on your rifles from another brand, there's a good chance they'll work with the Alaskan360.

Do I need to buy any extra adapters for my firearms?

The Alaskan360 ships with the Rugged Universal Mount (R.U.M.) already in the box, which is a QD mount compatible with all Rugged rifle muzzle devices. If you're running Rugged R3 or R3L flash hiders or Rugged muzzle brakes on your rifles, you're already set. If you're running muzzle devices from another brand, you have two options: swap to a compatible HUB mount for the back end of the suppressor (ASR, KeyMo, Plan B, etc.), or pick up the Rugged Universal Direct Thread Mount for a bare-threaded-barrel setup. For direct thread use, you'll need the correct thread pitch for your barrel. 5/8x24 is common for most .30-cal hosts and 1/2x28 for most 5.56. If you're swapping the Alaskan360 between multiple hosts, grabbing a dedicated mount for each rifle is the most convenient approach.

Is the Alaskan360 good for pistols, or are there better options from Rugged?

It will work on pistols and subguns up to 9mm, but it's not the purpose-built choice for that application. The Alaskan360 is a rifle suppressor. The 9mm bore compatibility is a byproduct of its multi-caliber design, not an intentional optimization for handgun use. It will also run noticeably larger and heavier on a pistol than a dedicated pistol can. If 9mm pistols or .45 ACP are your primary use case, Rugged's Obsidian 9 and Obsidian 45 are the right tools. Both use the ADAPT modular system to convert between full-length and compact configurations, are purpose-built for pistol gas volumes, and are designed to clear suppressor-height sights on most hosts. The Obsidian 9 is the better pick for shooters whose primary platforms are 9mm pistols and PCCs. The Obsidian 45 makes more sense if you need .45 ACP coverage or a wider pistol caliber range. If you want one suppressor to cover your rifle safe AND your pistols and you're willing to accept some compromise on the pistol side, the Alaskan360 handles it all. But if pistol performance is the priority, go Obsidian.
