ENERGETIC ARMAMENT VOX S SUPPRESSOR - FULL-AUTO RATED HARD-USE .30 CAL SILENCER FOR 5.56 TO 300 RUM
The Energetic Armament Vox S (model EA04) is a full-auto rated .30 cal suppressor built for hard use, with a CNC-welded core made from C300 nickel-cobalt maraging alloy. It measures 5.9" long and weighs 12.9 oz with the direct thread mount and wipe installed. The Vox S is full-auto rated on 5.56mm, .308 Win, and 300 BLK, rated up to 300 RUM, and carries no barrel length restrictions, so it works on a hard-running AR-15 as well as a .308 bolt gun.
Energetic Armament was the first silencer manufacturer to use C300 maraging alloy, an aerospace material developed and used by NASA for rocket motor casings. Heat treated, it reaches a yield strength of over 270 ksi, compared with 100 ksi for 17-4 H1150 stainless steel and 120 ksi for 6Al-4V titanium, and it retains more strength at 1,000° F than either of those materials has at room temperature. That strength allows thinner walls, which keeps weight down while increasing internal volume for better sound attenuation.
Mounting runs through the HUB (1.375x24) thread. Energetic Armament lists Dead Air Key-Mo, SilencerCo ASR, Q Plan-B, and Area 419 Hellfire as compatible, along with other industry-standard HUB-compatible mounts. A removable 5/8x24 direct thread mount made from 6Al-4V titanium (Grade 5) ships with the suppressor, and a 1/2x28 direct thread mount is available as an option.
The removable front cap holds a high-temperature silicone wipe for quieter subsonic shooting, and the wipe comes out easily for heavy supersonic, high-power shooting. In PEW Science testing with subsonic 300 BLK, adding the wipe raised the Vox S from a Suppression Rating of 48.4 to 58.9. Optional Energetic Armament Front Caps include a 5.56mm front cap and a 7.62mm titanium front cap, and the patented Serial ID Ring lets Energetic Armament repair a damaged suppressor quickly.
CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION
The Vox S takes care of two tradeoffs that usually come with picking a suppressor. The first is weight versus durability. At 12.9 oz with the direct thread mount and wipe, it's in titanium territory on weight, but the C300 core means it's full-auto rated on 5.56, .308, and 300 BLK. That makes it a great fit for a hard-use AR-15, and it'll ride just as happily on a .308 bolt gun.
The second is mounting. The HUB (1.375x24) thread means you aren't stuck with a proprietary system. Energetic Armament lists Dead Air Key-Mo, SilencerCo ASR, Q Plan-B, and Area 419 Hellfire as compatible, so if your rifles already wear muzzle devices from one of those systems, you can keep using them. And if you ever have a baffle strike, the patented Serial ID Ring lets EA repair it quickly and get you back on the firing line.
To be fair, the Vox S isn't the quietest .30 cal can out there, and PEW Science's testing reflects that. If you need something shorter, the Energetic Armament Vox K2 gives you the same C300 core in a 4.9" package. If sound reduction matters more to you than a full-auto rating, the titanium Energetic Armament Lux is the quieter option at 7.9".
