ENERGETIC ARMAMENT FEROX 5.56 SUPPRESSOR - LIGHTWEIGHT, FULL-AUTO RATED, 5.56 TO 6MM ARC

The Ferox 5.56 from Energetic Armament is a lightweight, full-auto rated suppressor for AR-15s, developed specifically for 5.56 platforms with short and mid-length barrels. It is built around a welded core of 17-4 stainless steel heat treated to the H900 condition. With the direct thread adapter and flash hider end cap, it weighs 12.5 oz, and it measures 5.9" long with the direct thread adapter and 1.63" in diameter. The Ferox 5.56 is rated for 5.56 NATO, .223 Rem, 5.45x39, 5.7x28, .224 Valkyrie, and 6mm ARC, and Energetic lists no barrel length restrictions under 1,000°F.

Precision-engineered radial gas bleed-off chambers inside the Ferox 5.56 lower back pressure compared to a conventional baffle design without giving up sound reduction. Energetic pairs that with more internal volume inside a small outer envelope, plus thinner walls that improve heat transfer as the suppressor turns the energy of high-speed muzzle gas into heat rather than sound. You get less gas to the face, less sound at the shooter's ears, and a low, even tone.

Flash mitigation was part of the design from the start. The removable flash hider end cap, which uses a standard 1-1/4" hex, comes with functional flash-reducing tines as standard equipment. The Ferox 5.56 also carries Energetic's patented Serial ID Ring, the registered NFA component that holds the serial number and tax stamp markings. If the core ever needs service or replacement, the ring moves to the new core, so no new Form 4 is needed.

Out of the box, the Ferox 5.56 ships with a removable 1/2x28 direct thread adapter. Remove it and the suppressor threads onto any HUB-compatible mount (HUB 1.375x24), including Energetic's own Project E.

CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION

The 5.56 suppressor market is crowded, and the Ferox 5.56 earns its spot in it. At 12.5 oz and under 6", it's light and compact for a full-auto rated can built from 17-4 H900 stainless. That full-auto rating matters if you're running a select-fire host or an FRT, or you're just burning through a lot of rounds.

Short barrels already make plenty of back pressure, and a can that doesn't deal with it only makes things worse. The radial gas bleed-off chambers in the Ferox are built to keep that in check, so you're eating less gas over a long range day. That's a big reason we like it on short and mid-length AR-15s.

We're also big fans of the flash hider end cap coming standard. Energetic built flash mitigation into the design from day one, so it's handled out of the box instead of being one more thing to buy later. Add HUB compatibility and a direct thread adapter in the box, and you've got a well-rounded 5.56 package from a manufacturer whose material spec and build quality punch above the price.
