SIGHT PICTURE AND SUPPRESSION
The AAC Illusion 9 is a compact, high-performance silencer for modern 9mm semi-automatic pistols. Like the Maxim model 1910 silencer, the Advanced Armament Illusion 9 features an offset, non-centralized bullet path. Unlike the Maxims of old, the advanced design of the Illusion 9 incorporates a highly evolved, patent pending A.S.A.P. (Assured Semi Automatic Performance) system that ensures reliable operation on a broad spectrum of self-loading host pistols. This revolutionary design also enables users to quickly and easily adjust the rotational orientation of the silencer to provide an unobstructed sight picture on most hosts equipped with standard-height sights. The tabbed, captured cone baffle stack of the Illusion 9 can be easily removed from the tube for cleaning and maintenance without the use of specialized tools, and features a heat treated, 17-4 stainless steel blast baffle with a durable nitride finish. Users can quickly and easily configure the Illusion 9 with adapter pistons for barrels with ½-28 tpi and M13.5 x 1 LH threads.
CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION
Many shooters of suppressed pistols don't like their sights being blocked by the silencer. Raised sights and RMRs can be a solution, but they come with drawbacks. Raised sights may stop compatibility with many holsters, and RMRs are a very costly solution often depending on battery power. The Illusion is an eccentric design, where the center-point of the silencer sits below the bore axis. This allows a pistol with normal-height sights to be used without obscuring the sight picture. While not absolutely necessary, some shooters have issues by being distracted by the silencer. The AAC Illusion solves this issue, and allows for a virtually unseen addition to the pistol.
