This is an outstanding example of the full automatic Colt Model 1921 Thompson Submachine Gun. This early SN# is one of the finest Thompsons we’ve seen with minimal wear shown throughout. The overall condition of the finish and luster of the blue is outstanding with only slight loss on the high points and ridges. The wood furniture shows well with some bruising and scratches, mostly on the butt stock. The butt stock locks correctly and imprinted at the anterior are the letters “CITY OF BHAM”. The wood furniture appears to have been refinished and there are no visible cracks.
The gun is fully functional and smoothly operated by hand. The internals show minimal wear. The Thompson barrel is 10.5” in length and is the more desirable “finned” barrel to aid in cooling during automatic fire. The rear sight is correct with the fully adjustable Lyman rear sight that is graduated from 100-600 yards.
This Thompson comes with an original FBI hard case in good condition and is marked “The Books Trunk”. The key, brass rod and cleaning kit are missing. The exterior shows very well for its age and te latches, clasps and handles are fully functional. The interior and velvet is soiled from oil, but no rips or tears are evident. Included are 4 20 round stick magazines, all in excellent condition with blueing intact. Three of magazines are marked “Auto Ordnance Bridgeport, CT Reg in US Patent Off” and one marked “The Seymore Products Co, Seymour, Conn”. To complete the package, the gun comes with a matte blue 50rd Type “L” Model drum magazine made by Auto Ordnance.
