LaRue OBR - Collector's Piece
LARUE TACTICAL LT-762 OBR - SERIAL LT0069, THE 2ND OBR EVER PRODUCED, PRE-2010 SMOS LOWER
This is the 2nd LaRue OBR ever produced, receiver serial number LT0069, built on a pre 2010 LaRue lower manufactured by SMOS, LLC and dual engraved with both the SMOS, LLC and LaRue Tactical markings. The model designation is LT-762, a prefix LaRue used before the modern LT-10 lineup existed, and the serial number itself predates the OBR prefix altogether. This particular rifle has less than 50 rounds through it and represents one of the earliest examples of a rifle that would go on to define LaRue's reputation in the 7.62 precision semi-auto space. If you collect early LaRue production, serialized firearms history, or OBR variants specifically, this is about as early as the platform gets.
CAPITOL ARMORY'S OPINION
Early production firearms rarely survive in a condition worth talking about, let alone with under 50 rounds fired. This one does both. Serial LT0069 lands right at the transition point in LaRue's history, before it was named OBR. The lower itself is a physical record of that transition. It was manufactured by SMOS, LLC rather than in house, carries both the SMOS and LaRue Tactical markings, and is stamped LT-762, a designation that predates the LT-10 naming convention LaRue eventually settled on. LaRue would go on to bring lower production in house shortly after, which makes this specific combination of vendor-made lower, dual engraving, and early serial number a small window into a production process that did not last long.
The rifle was not built as a shelf queen, but it has effectively lived like one. Less than 50 rounds through an OBR of this era is unusual on its own, and paired with a serial number this low it turns an already collectible rifle into something closer to a documented piece of LaRue's early history. The upper carries a Surefire MB762SSAL/RE muzzle brake and a PRI charging handle, both period-correct upgrades that fit the rifle rather than modern add-ons bolted onto an old gun. LaRue built a reputation for smooth actions early, and this rifle is a good example of why. Few AR-pattern 7.62 rifles from any era run as cleanly as this one does with so few rounds through it.
The trigger is a Geissele G2S two stage, which is a sensible and honest upgrade rather than something that changes the character or value of the rifle. It ships with two LaRue Tactical marked magazines. For a collector, a LaRue historian, or someone who wants an OBR that is genuinely early rather than just old, this is a rare opportunity. Rifles with a lower serial number than this one are essentially not in circulation.
