FORM 1 FILING FOR CAPITOL ARMORY CUSTOMERS
This service is for those who would like Capitol Armory to file a BATFE Form 1 application on your behalf. A Form 1 application is for the manufacturer of a short barreled rifle, short barreled shotgun, or suppressor. We are currently only assisting with the filing of Form 1s for SBRs and SBSs.
Electronic Filing: Since the release of electronic Form 1s, the ATF eForms site is frequently offline, unreliable, and prone to errors. Due to the instability of their site, the estimated processing time for an electronic Form 1 is 7-10 days.
If your prints and photos are on file, Capitol Armory will prepare your Form 1 application and send it to you to sign digitally via DocuSign. Once the application is signed, we will begin the submission process. When your Form 1 has been submitted, we will notify you via email that your Form 1 was successfully filed and we will mail your fingerprints on your behalf. Once approved, the approval will be provided to you via email only and you will not receive a physical stamp.
Paper Filing: If your prints and photos are on file, Capitol Armory will prepare your Form 1 application and send it to you to sign digitally via DocuSign. Once the application is signed, we will mail the paperwork to the ATF shortly thereafter and will notify you via email. Once approved, the approval will mailed to your address as listed on the Form 1 application.
Notifications: Any communication regarding your application will be between you and the ATF. Capitol Armory will not receive any updates or notification when the form is approved/disapproved.
Disapprovals: If the Form 1 is disapproved due to your negligence (for example, you provided the wrong information to us) you will be required to pay our fee to resubmit. You will not be required to resubmit the $200 ATF tax. Please ensure you understand your state laws regarding minimum overall length.
Engraving Requirement: Once approved, Capitol Armory can handle your required NFA engraving: http://www.capitolarmory.com/sbr-sbs-nfa-firearm-engraving.html

Why is a multicaliber receiver not acceptable? Would I need another lower receiver?
The lower can read multi, but the Form 1 registration must state the caliber of the SBR you intend to build. Once registered, the firearm configuration can be temporarily modified by installing another upper of different length or caliber.
