Quick Overview

PAPER AND ELECTRONIC FORM 1 FILING

This service is for those who would like Capitol Armory to file a BATFE Form 1 application on behalf of you, the customer. A Form 1 application is for the manufacturer of a short barreled rifle, short barreled shotgun or suppressor. To eliminate errors, it is best if the customer provides a picture of the existing firearm depicting the Make, Model and SN# of the firearm. Capitol Armory will coordinate the collection of fingerprints, photos and signatures and notify the customer via email when the application is filed. Once the approved Form 1 is received by the customer, the firearm can then be legally built per the specifications on the Form 1.

Paper Form 1 filing notice: If your prints and photos are on file, your paper Form 1 will be generated within 24 hours of placing your order. You will digitally sign the Form 1 via docusign and Capitol Armory will mail the paperwork to the ATF shortly thereafter. The approved Form 1 will be sent to the customer's address as found on the Form 1.

Electronic Form 1 filing notice: Since the release of electronic Form 1s, we've noticed the eForm web service is less reliable and more prone to site errors. Due to the instability of their site, your Form 1 may take a few extra days to file with the BATFE.  When you elect to file electronically, Capitol Armory will have you digitally sign your Form 1 and Responsible Persons Questionnaire and then submit with the BATFE eForm web site. Upon electronic submission, you'll receive a Form 1 cover letter via email from the ATF. Please forward that email and cover letter to [email protected] Once received, we will forward your fingerprints on your behalf and notify you via email that your Form 1 was successfully filed. Your Form 1 approval will be provided via email and you will not receive a physical stamp.

To avoid delay, please make sure to provide a correct login to your eForms account : http://eforms.atf.gov

Ask a Question

  • Why is a multicaliber receiver not acceptable? Would I need another lower receiver?

The lower can read multi, but the Form 1 registration must state the caliber of the SBR you intend to build. Once registered, the firearm configuration can be temporarily modified by installing another upper of different length or caliber.
